Winning Form Best Bets
Race 1: ANTONIA MAJOR(1)
Race 2: KING’S SOLDIER(1)
Race 5: UNCLE TOMMY(10)
Race 7: SOLS GOLD(10)
Race 3: FIGHTING FORCE(1)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: St John GRAY
FIGHTING FORCE is holding his form extremely well and he has finished runner-up in his last three starts. He set the pace and despite coming under pressure a long way out, he still fought on for 2nd, beaten just one length at the hands of rank outsider, Master Rivas over this c & d, two weeks ago. He will get stiff opposition from WELLESLEY but still has strong claims of going one better.
Race 4: LADY OF KILDARE(3)
Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON – Trainer: Sean TARRY
LADY OF KILDARE bounced right back to her best when she stayed on strongly for second over this c & d, two weeks ago. She should continue to make improvement in today’s line-up and merits healthy respect. Her stablemate JADE VINE is lightly raced but returns from a 21 week break. She showed improvement in her last two starts but was reportedly not striding out, last time. The engaging of Delpech suggests that her conditioner will have her fit and well and she could improve.
Race 8: RUBY CHIMES(2)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Barend BOTES
RUBY CHIMES has been thereabouts in her last few starts and she reserves her best races for this course. She found traffic problems but still finished well for second over ten furlongs last time and she drops heavily in class here. Strydom retains the ride on the daughter of Mogok and she should go very close here.
Race 10: LESLEY STRONG(5) – TOP BET
Jockey: Keagan LATHAM – Trainer: Wallace TOLMAY
LESLEY STRONG has shown lots of promise to date and he has proven effective on both surfaces. He was equipped with blinkers and ran on steadily for a close 3rd over six furlongs on the sand last time. That headgear remains on the son of Kildonan today and he stands-out in this moderate contest. He put- up a very creditable performance in his only start over a mile at Turffontein and should take a power of beating here. His jockey has been amongst the winners in the last few days.
VALUE BET FOR TODAY:
Race 5: NEGEV(12) (Each Way)
Jockey: Fanie CHAMBERS – Trainer: Louis GOOSEN
NEGEV enjoys racing on this track and this is her best trip. She was running on nicely for second over six furlongs here, two weeks ago and should easily handle today’s rise in class. The daughter of Stro- nghold is well-weighted in this handicap and she should give a very good account of herself.
