Race 4: HAKEEM(11)
Race 5: BOLD COAST(12)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: FANCIFILLY(8)

Jockey: Gunter WROGEMANN – Trainer: Louis GOOSEN

FANCIFILLY had an eye-catching debut against winners over this c & d last month and could be well above-average. She tired late to run out of the money that day but the daughter of What A Winter showed blistering pace and only race fitness seemed to find her out in the end. That formline has worked out really well and this bay filly would have come on appreciably from the experience. She makes her debut against older rivals today but is certainly worth following.

TOP BET
Race 4: HAKEEM(11)

Jockey: Craig ZACKEY – Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

The imported HAKEEM produced a promising debut over this c & d two weeks ago despite drifting alarmin- gly in the betting market in the face of strong support for his conqueror. He was eventually outrun late into 2nd by that highly regarded fellow newcomer Orpheus and had more than five lengths to spare with the 3rd placed entrant Twice A Dancer. He should make natural improvement and appears to have a bright future.

Race 6: CAPE INFANTA(7)

Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Alec LAIRD

CAPE INFANTA continues to plummet in the ratings and she was interestingly docked three pounds after her last start despite threatening to finish much closer. She found traffic issues at a crucial stage in that blanket finish but still made an eye-catching recovery and can take full advantage of the handicapper’s generosity. The daughter of Dupont represents good each/way value today.

Race 8: STARK(7)

Jockey: S’manga KHUMALO – Trainer: Barend BOTES

STARK was desperately unlucky when going down narrowly to LE TIGRE (first reserve runner) after producing a powerful late burst over this c & d five weeks ago. The three-year-old chestnut gelding found plenty of traffic problems that day but can make amends despite the resultant two pound penalty. The son of Warm White Night will be retained by top jockey Khumalo.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 7: ARTEMISIA(4)
Jockey: Ryan MUNGER – Trainer: Grant MAROUN

ARTEMISIA had an excellent month of May which culminated with another courageous performance. She was upped five pounds for her impressive c & d victory at her penultimate attempt just seven days earlier but still ran on strongly for a close 4th over an extra furlong. She should be highly competitive from a favourable draw today.
