Magic Tips Best Bets
Race 1: CHIEF RAFEEF (4)
Jockey: Maujean C – Trainer: Sham D
CHIEF RAFEEF produced a promising debut effort over 1000m on this course, four weeks ago. He was slow into stride, but the manner in which he finished off his race caught the eye. The son of Rafeef would have gained from the experience and will enjoy the extra furlong on offer. If not too green around the turn, he should go one better here.
Race 2: PRINCESS PHILIPP (5)
Jockey: Simons R – Trainer: Pettigrew S T
PRINCESS PHILIPPA ran a decent race on debut over 1400m at Turffontein. She understandably raced green, but the manner in which she finished off her race was encouraging. The daughter of Silvano would have come on from the run and will be mowing down the frontrunners in the run down to the line.
Race 3: DUKE OF SUSSEX (9)
Jockey: Zackey C – Trainer: Houdalakis M
DUKE OF SUSSEX produced an eye-catching debut effort over 1400m. He raced green that day, but challenged strongly all the way to the line. The son of Duke Of Marmalade found plenty of betting support which suggests that he had been showing good work back at home. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should take a power of beating.
Race 6: DR DOOLITTLE (1)
Jockey: Kennedy W – Trainer: Peter P
DR DOOLITTLE challenged strongly in his last start, but found one too good in the form of Cornish Pomodoro. He won his only attempt on this course and has won twice from four starts over this trip. If jumping on terms, he can notch up his fourth career victory.
Race 7: ORAVAR (1)
Jockey: Jacobs X – Trainer: Azzie M
ORAVAR ran a good race over this distance at Turffontein last time. He has won twice from three starts over this C&D. He gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Xola Jacobs which should help his chances. He shows speed in his races and may be hard to peg back.
