She weakened late into 3rd, exactly half a length behind today’s competitor DE NIMES and also has further scope for progress. The speedy daughter of Trippi should push the latter hard this time around.

TWINKLE TOWN may have a few niggles but she has shown her ability with three pleasing sprints to date. She was close-up behind subsequent winner and highly rated Cape Orchid last time out and clearly has room for progress. Of course, it doesn’t help the form that the runner-up Osculation (runs in race 1) hasn’t shed her maiden tag in five attempts since. However, this well-related daughter of Mogok is lightly raced and she will have more to offer for this red-hot combination.

Race 3: MUNTAHAA(10)
Jockey: Calan MURRAY – Trainer: Mike DE KOCK
The well-related MUNTAHAA made the expected improvement on his Highveld debut over a mile second time out. He stayed on well for 2nd after racing handy at Turffontein that night and the 4th placed entrant Ego Amigo boosted the formline with a victory next time out over subsequent winner Royal Variety. This son of Western Winter should continue to blossom with experience and he could prove tough to beat from his good draw on his track debut.
Race 4: HALF A BAR(2)
HALF A BAR has finally strung together some useful performances and she is a major contender from the best draw in this line-up. The daughter of Visionaire was making late progress from a poor barrier position in her only attempt on this track. She is her yard’s solitary representative today and must be strongly considered.

Race 9: IRIDIUM SILVER(3)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Devin LITTLE
The Devin Little yard is in great form and IRIDIUM SILVER’s major improvement recently underlines the well-being of the stable. This chestnut filly made shock progress when she stayed on for 3rd in a very competitive field over nine furlongs in yielding conditions after setting the fractions. She hasn’t featured in four attempts on this course but clearly escaped without a penalty for that last run and she has the gate speed to overcome her poor draw. Moreover, she now gets the services of Strydom and is her yard’s only entrant on the day. The drop in distance won’t pose an issue and she deserves healthy respect.
