Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 3: PILOU(1)
Jockey: S’manga KHUMALO – Trainer: Sean TARRY

PILOU is above-average and his top quality last run proved just that. He raced wide after jumping from a poor draw in a highly competitive line-up but fought on courageously before going down just a neck at the line and that formline has rather expectedly worked out well. The well-related son of Western Winter will be even better over the mile and he should prove far too good for this field on his peak run.

Race 4: CLIFTON ROAD(6)
Jockey: Randall SIMONS – Trainer: Johan Janse V/VUUREN

There are too classy fillies in this field and they should dominate the betting boards and the final outcome. The imported daughter of Lonhro, CLIFTON ROAD was fancied when she had a fair debut over this c & d in a gigantic field in Spring. She showed toe that day before perhaps lacking the experience to trouble subsequent multiple winners Levi Lady (1st in that event) and Lady Of The World (runner-up that day). Interestingly, that formline was further enhanced by subsequent two-time winner Kirkconnel Lass (finished 5th that day). The four-year-old filly has obviously suffered a setback since but she would have certainly come on with that experience and should have lots of progress in her.

Race 5: REBEL TO THE FOR(4)
Jockey: S’manga KHUMALO – Trainer: Sean TARRY

REBEL TO THE FORE is the ‘class act’ in this field and her superior ratings prove it. She is plagued with issues though and was again rested after a disappointing comeback run at conditions level in the summer. The Tarry inmate drops heavily in class here and she can return to form with a vengeance.

Race 7: VAR’S YOUR DADDY(11)

Jockey: Calvin HABIB – Trainer: St John GRAY

VAR’S YOUR DADDY is improving quickly and the lightly raced four-year-old had a promising handicap debut over this c & d three weeks ago. He finished strongly for a close 2nd on that occasion and was only penalised a pound. The Var gelding will be cherry-ripe now and he contests the finish despite the slight rise in class. He has a handy galloping mass.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 8: MIGHTY MANZI(3)

Jockey:

Karl
ZECHNER

 – Trainer: Michael AZZIE

MIGHTY MANZI is gradually dropping in the merit ratings after some moderate performances in stronger company. His last formline is worth following though and the Azzie inmate drops heavily in class here.
