Warren Lenferna: Turffontein Tips – Thursday 19 March

Warren Lenferna at the Hollywoodbets Sizzling Summer Challenge Handover

Warren Lenferna takes a look at today’s ten-race programme set to take place at Turffontein.

Race 1:
TAKAGARI (9) absolutely flew on debut to finish fourth in the manner of a nice horse. With natural improvement and baring none of the first-timers being superstars then, he could be hard to beat. THE EIGHTH LORD (11) could be worth including for swingers and exactas.

Race 2:
If FLAMING WINTER (3) is not in too much need of this comeback run then she could go close. Her improvement in her second start was encouraging behind what seems to be a talented sort, Miracle Flight. It does worry me though that her sire has not had his first winner yet! JAVA HOUSE (4) can improve on her attractive debut effort.

Race 3:
A tough race – try and include as many as your budget will allow you to!

Race 4:
The blinkers could make all the difference with CRANK IT UP (2) He nearly won last time and I am not sure if rider Gavin Lerena chose this ride over WALTZING AL (3) (whom he rode last time) and PSYCHO KING (1) (a stable that uses him often). Crank It Up might be hard to beat.

Race 5:
Looks to be a two-horse race between MARSHALL (7) and INDY GO (8) Marshall was far from disgraced in the Classic last time and looks to have a bright winning chance in this.

Race 6:
MARSHALL FOCH (6) is a powerful front runner and absolutely trotted up last time. He could easily do so again today! I expect a huge effort from DUKE OF SPIN (2).

Race 7:
If POPSICLE TOES (1) is not in too much need of this comeback run then he could run very well fresh as he is more than capable.

Race 8:
A competitive race where it would be advisable to include as many as you can to see you going through to the last leg of the various bets.

Race 9:
RIO’S WINTER (1) on form should win this and win this well but it is not as easy as that! SCENT OF EVENING (2) has the ability to win and STELLAR MOTION (3) showed last time when winning well that she could end up being absolutely anything.

Race 10:
Not an easy race to bring down the curtain at Turffontein today. SEVEN PATRIOTS (2) had valid excuses last time and can be forgiven for that effort. WESTERN OASIS (10) is doing okay since winning his maiden and can go very close. GOLDEN MAN (11) the evergreen eight-year-old will get some valuable weight off his back. He ran on last time and can make his presence felt – he is overdue another win.
