Race 1

PHALA MILLIONS ran a fair race in his last start over 1160m at Turffontein. He raced from just off the pace and stayed on at the finish. He gets the services of capable work rider Chamu Mabaya and can shed his maiden tag in this field.

BEACH DAY is an unraced daughter of Canford Cliffs from the Robyn Klaasen stable with Phelisile Mongqawa in the saddle. She is related to four-time winner Pam’s Princess. If not too green, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.

EVE’S APPLE was in need of her debut effort over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. She would have come on from the run and can improve to finish in the placings.

Race 2

WILD AT WAR ran a good race in his last start over this C&D. He raced from just off the pace, moved up but was outrun late. The son of Danon Platina is a progressive type and Gavin Lerena may be able to get the best out of him where it matters most.

GORGEOUS KLEIN has produced two good runs in the Eastern Cape. He is having his first run for the Tony Peter stable. If settled into his new surroundings, he should pose a massive threat to the top choice.

BELIEVE IN FATE is an unraced son of Master Of My Fate from the Joe Soma stable with Piere Strydom in the saddle. He is related to multiple winners including Zarina and Borya. If not too green, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other first timers.

Race 3

TAKE YOUR PLACE caught the eye when second on debut over this C&D. She showed good pace, but was caught in the shadow of the post by Across The Pond. The daughter of Bezrin would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she can go one better.

TIPPERARY ran a fair race on debut over 1000m at Turffontein. It must be noted that Golden Chandelier has come out and won again since. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber would have come on from the run and should love the rise to 1200m.

WILLOWILD ran a fair race in her last start over 1000m on the Classic course. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she will love the rise to 1200m. She is a progressive type and can finish in the placings.

Race 4

SILKY JET should have finished closer to the winner in her last start over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course as she received a bump leaving the start. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. It is encouraging that Piere Strydom keeps faith in the ride and with luck in running, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

CEUTA produced a fair debut effort over this distance at Turffontein. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight would have come on from the run and should make the natural improvement.

CITY LIGHTS had excuses in her last start against male company. She finished 0.75 lengths behind the second choice in her penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the wire.

Race 5

IN A BLUE MOON moved up well in his last start over 1700m, but was caught late by Volte Face. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. The son of Fire Away meets the right field and he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

OFFICER IN COMMAND finished 0.6 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish. He is carded to race on 21 March 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

DUAL PROPHECY returns from a 12-week break, during which time he was gelded. The son of Twice Over showed good promise in his debut run and the gelding may have been what he needed. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and there should be improvement to come.

Race 6

VIVA DE JANEIRO ran a good race in his last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. He received a bump leaving the start but stayed on at the finish. The son of Oratorio meets the right field this afternoon and Gavin Lerena may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

CAN’T CATCH ME ran a fair race in her last start over 1400m. Her penultimate run when fourth over this C&D catches the eye. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

CARNELO is better than his last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. If finding his previous form, he should be hard to peg back.

Race 7

TYRCONNELL was a tad disappointing in his last start on the Turffontein Inside course. That run may have been too soon after his previous good second-place finish. It must be noted that the form of his last outing has been franked. The son of The United States is a horse with ability and if putting his best foot forward, he should win a race of this nature.

MARDI GRAS’ last two starts have been fair. He should enjoy the drop back to 1600m. He gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Nirvan Nastili which will assist his cause.

KING’S EXPRESS should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung in the final 500m. He won his only attempt over this C&D. The son of Pomodoro is having his peak run today and should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 8

JUST BE NICE ran a creditable race in her last start over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course. She jumped outwards leaving the start, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. She will strip a much fitter horse this afternoon and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

MIA FIORE ran on well when winning her last start over this C&D. She takes a rise in class but is in a good space and should be up to the task at hand.

ALESIA’S LOVE won a good race in her last start over 1450m on the Classic course. She received a five-pound penalty for that victory. Raymond Danielson is booked to ride and she must be included in all bets.

Race 9

STORMY SEAS ran on powerfully when winning his last start over this distance at Turffontein. He received a four-pound penalty for that victory. Apprentice Trent Mayhew takes the 4kgs off his back and he may be the one to beat.

SIBERIAN STEEL finished 2 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the closing stages.

IN THE ETHER finished 1.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 5.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around. The daughter of Announce will be mowing down the frontrunners.
