Race 1 – 06:00 | Class 5 Handicap | 1000m
Selections: 5/10/2
TAX FREE was impressive in his latest win over this course and distance. Can go close again carrying less weight than he did in that last win. SUN STEP gets a very light weight for this contest. Should lead and take some catching, knocking on the door for a win off his current rating.
RACE 2 – 06:30 | Restricted Maiden | 1200m
Selections: 1/3/4
ARYAPAKUAN was slow away in his last start and it cost him the race. Hoping to see him jumping on terms with them this time around. He is certainly a horse with enough ability to win this. FIGHT ON, like the top selection, was slow away and finished incredibly well in behind Takanini. He must be respected here.
RACE 3 – 07:00 | Class 4 Handicap | 1200m
Selections: 1/2/4
FLYING NEMO‘s undefeated run came to an end on his last start. He now carries 57kg which is enough to be a burden for a small horse like him, but he has an ounce of class and that will take him a long way here. LUCKY BABY ran a strong fourth on local debut in behind Mimosas. This form should stack up well along with the race day experience in Singapore, can go close.
RACE 4 – 07:30 | Open Maiden | 1000m
Selections: 1/2/5
TE AKAU BEN returns here after an extended break. He showed plenty of promise in his two starts to date which included a 2nd at novice grade, he looks a difficult horse to beat on paper. BRIGGS saw that class 4 was a little too far out of his depth last start, back to suitable company and can go close here.
RACE 5 – 08:00 | Class 4 Handicap | 1600m
Selections: 5/3/9
MASTER OF COIN sat closer to the speed last start and was only beaten just over a length, expecting a similar race plan here. Include in all bets. ACE SOVEREIGN on his day, he wins here. His performances can vary but if he’s on song, a top-three finish isn’t out of the question.
RACE 6 – 08:30 | Class 5 Handicap | 1200m
Selections: 2/3/1
SCHNEIDER is yet to win a race but that could change here. He was heavily supported and raced keen the whole way. Can bounce back here even though he doesn’t face maiden company. SUN RECTITUDE‘s recent trial between runs were solid. Looks a horse who should be at the bottom of class 4 and merits respect among this company.
Race 7 – 09:00 | Class 4 Handicap | 1200m
Selections: 3/7/6
FIRST BOWL is getting back to a very attractive rating and he likes this course and distance. Horse to follow over the next couple of starts because a win is imminent. FIGHTING HERO is racing consistently without winning at this grade and looks well-weighted to go close here again.
Race 8 – 09:30 | Class 5 Handicap | 1600m
Selections: 4/2/1
FORTUNE STAR gets the services of Manoel Nunes this week and has been a model of consistency in his last few starts. He gets a great chance to win this weekend. One to follow. SAYONARA was a confident winner over last start and has a go at a winnable event once again this weekend. May have to work a little from the gate but presents here as one of the winning hopes.
Race 9 – 10:00 | Class 4 Handicap | 1400m
Selections: 9/8/1
SOUSUI laid in at the top of the straight losing all momentum last start. Only went down by 1.5 lengths in his first run at class 4. He carries a light weight here again and this race looks winnable. PACIFICSTAR‘s performances before his last start were questionable as he didn’t really match the opinion that he was labelled with early in his Singapore career. He improved dramatically on his last start even with the saddle slipping backwards. Hopefully this form continues.
Race 10 – 10:30 | Class 2 Handicap | 1400m
Selections: 6/9/1
SUPER SALUTE has won his last four. This race looks well within his grasp and I’m expecting him to be hard to beat again with 53kgs. SILENT IS GOLD once again meets the top selection who got the better of him two starts ago. Has won a race since so should be full of confidence heading into this with minimal weight. Only concern is that he loses his regular rider this weekend. Nevertheless, worth respecting.
Race 11 – 11:00 | Class 3 Handicap | 1200m
Selections: 8/10/3
MIMOSA was a dominant winner last start breaking through from a wide draw. Steps up in grade here but looks very capable. CITY GOLD FORWARD copped an early collision in running but still managed to make up a stack of ground late on last start. Big chance this weekend.
RACE 7 – Time: 09:00 | Class 5 Handicap | 1700m
Selections: 1/3/4
ETWAS NEUES comes off the back of two minor placings in this grade. Headlines the weights as one of three horses on a rating of 47. Stable look to have him in a suitable race. TONY’S LOVE steps back on the Polytrack surface after two disappointing runs when heavily supported on the turf. Has won on this surface in the past and placed on two occasions over this course and distance.
RACE 8 – Time: 09:30 | Class 4 Handicap | 1600m
Selections: 5/1/4
LIM’S PUNCAK JAYA draws an inside gate to find a nice spot in running up on speed. Form has held up from his last win, can go close here again with a much better draw. CON SPERANZA was drawn off the track but was impressive last start without winning. A class 4 victory shouldn’t be too far off but will need some luck early from the wide gate.
RACE 9 Time: 10:00 | Class 5 Handicap | 1200m
Selections: 11/1/2
HOLY ELEANOR was very well weighted in this event for the nine-time runner up who just finds it hard to get that maiden victory. 50% place strike rate at this course and distance has her in the mix. Wide draw isn’t ideal for her but gets Nunes up. CHARGER gets allocated topweight and Seow will claim 3kgs off that after a nice third placing a few weeks ago in this grade. Hasn’t quite been at his best in his last two starts but he is always dangerous in this class. Watch betting.
Race 10 – Time: 10:30 | Kranji Stakes A | 1200m
Selections: 4/1/2
GOLDEN MONKEY has had two trials since his last run where he was wide without cover and never got on the track. Weighted incredibly well, respect. KING ARTHUR comes into this event carrying a large weight off a rating of 105. Apprentice takes off some weight here must have a say.
Race 11 – Time: 11:00| Group 1 | 1600m
Selections: 1/2/3
LIM’S KOSCIUSZKO the 2022 horse of the year returns here 2nd up this season and into his first group 1 for the year. He was a group three winner first up and will be benefited greatly by WFA conditions, big chance. KATAK gave an eye-catching comeback run over 1400m last time. The 6-year-old bay gelding will strip fitter today and must have a say here.
Race 12 – Time: 11:30 Class 4 Handicap | 1200m
Selections: 1/4/3
SIAM WARRIOR gets back to class 4 this weekend and has been itching to get back in this grade. Duric booked to ride and draws a good gate position, expecting a big performance. INVINCIBLE TYCOON’s track work leading up to run has been solid. Won on a yielding track two starts back. Top three chance.
