Race 5

LIFE’S A PARTY is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she showed plenty of toe when winning by a length on debut over five furlongs, despite hanging out down the home straight and was immediately rested for 23 weeks. She returns here without having had the benefit of a barrier trial, so her fitness will have to be taken on trust, but although drawn wide in gate thirteen, she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

EAST HARLEM overraced in the early and middle stages and hung out down the home straight, but still managed to finish third last time out over six furlongs, just under a half-length behind the winner. He gets a kinder draw five and will be having his peak run after returning from an 18-week rest. In addition, he will have cheekpieces fitted for the first time and if these have the desired effect, he should be a big runner here.

PRESS FORWARD is drawn one outside the latter and had his consistency rewarded with his maiden victory last time out over 1100M, by 0.8L. He came three wide into the home straight that day and despite hanging out in the dash down to the wire, he still finished off his race strongly to win going away. He has his peak run after returning from a 24-week rest and a change of trainer and should be included in all bets.

Race 6

HAMMOON MONEY missed out on her hat-trick after victories over seven furlongs and six furlongs when finishing fourth last time out over seven furlongs, two lengths behind the winner. She stayed on well that day and will be having her peak run here after returning from a 19-week break. From a useful draw two, she will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

STARLINK’S last three runs have yielded a third, a second and the latest a victory over seven furlongs by just under a half-length. She lost three lengths at the start in that event, finding herself towards the back of the field, before finishing strongly to get up in the shadow of the post. She had to survive an objection lodged by the second-placed runner and whilst jumping from a wideish gate eight, on the plus side, she will have 2kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.

PANTS ON FIRE has won two of her last three outings, the latest over seven furlongs by 2.3L. She went from jump to wire that day and although hanging out in the home straight, she was able to hold off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire. She faces a wide gate ten, but on the plus side, she will have 3kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice.

Race 7

The day’s value bet, FEIRME PRINCE has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three starts, the latest when fourth over 1100M, just over two lengths adrift of the winner and if he has continued down the same path of improvement, he should be right up there when they hit the line. The gelding finished well in that event, suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to his liking. He jumps from draw six and will be having his peak run after returning from a 28-week break and a change of trainers.

THE MEDIATOR followed up his penultimate run victory over seven furlongs with a second-place finish next time out over a mile, 1.3L back from the winner. He struck the front at the 200M pole on that occasion, only to be run out of it late and has won a subsequent barrier trial. The gelding has a cosy draw three and will have the services of a 2kg claiming apprentice.

STARANE has posted two solid last runs, the latest when finishing third over 1100M, one length back from the winner. He raced three wide on that occasion but stayed on we’ll over the latter stages. He does face a wide draw nine, but the cheek pieces are re-fitted and if these keep his mind on the task at hand, he should not be easily overlooked.

Race 8

MAJORITY is a 5yr old mare taking on males, but she has consistent formlines to her name, finishing second in her latest outing over seven furlongs, just under a half lengths behind the winner. She did race three wide without cover that day, but was still able to make good late progress over the latter stages. She has pulled gate five and could give the trainer/jockey combination of Brett Robb and Grant Buckley a double in the day’s Jackpot, should the top pick win the second leg.

RICH AND SHAMELESS jumped awkwardly, but kicked clear of the field at the 200M mark and then held off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire to win his last start over a mile by just under a half-length. He will have to deal with a wide draw ten, but he could emerge as the biggest threat to the top choice.

NOTABADIDEA was also a winner of his last start by just under a half-length, but in his case, a contest over seven furlongs. He raced three wide approaching the home turn that day but had enough in reserve to complete his eighth career win. He has his peak run after returning from a 30 week spell and does face a wide draw eleven, by he will have 2gs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.
