Race 5.

A 3yr old and a 4yr old filly can fight out the finish to this race and secure the exacta, but SHOW ME YOUR LOVE gets the nod for top spot. She finished second on debut over seven furlongs, just under a length behind the winner and was immediately rested for 25 weeks, but she did come three wide into the home straight that day and hung in down the stretch, so that effort was encouraging. She returns here after having had two barrier trials, winning the first and finishing fourth in the latest to showcase her well-being. She will have to negotiate a wide gate thirteen, but she should be right up there when they hit the line.

PERCONTATION has consistent formlines to her name, finishing second in her latest outing over a mile, just over a half length behind the winner. She struck the front at the 225M mark that day and was only run out of it very late. She will have to deal with an even wider draw fifteen, but she should be doing her best work late.

HONOURABLE has only had the three runs to date, finishing third on the first two occasions and then second last time out over this c&d, 1.3L back from the winner. He tried to go from jump to wire that day and from a wide gate twelve, he is likely to adopt similar tactics here.

Race 6

Two 3yr old’s and a 4yr old filly could dominate the finish to this race and complete the trifecta, but VANILLI is taken to lead the pack home. She followed up her penultimate run victory over seven furlongs with a fifth place finish over the same trip at this track, just under three lengths adrift of the winner. She finished well from some way back that day and from draw eleven, she is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the closing stages of the race.

SOPHISTICATION came three wide and in last position into the home straight, but then made good late progress to end up in fifth spot last time out over 1950M, just over five and a half lengths back from the winner. She on the other hand, has a handy draw two and has her first run for her new trainer. If fully settled into her new surroundings, she should give a good account of herself here.

MIANDELLE has turned in two solid last efforts, the latest when fourth over 1750M, one length off the winner. She jumped awkwardly that day, but stayed on well over the latter stages. She is drawn wide in gate twelve, but she nevertheless should be included in all bets.

Race 7

MARIINSKY is seldom far off the action, finishing second in his last two starts, the latest over a mile, 0.7L off the winner, this despite being slow away and racing four wide the whole way. The form of that race has stood up well with four runners out of that contest subsequently winning. The gelding has his first run since a 13 week rest and for his new trainer and has not had a barrier trial, so his fitness will have to be taken on trust, but if displaying his best form, he should be hard to topple here and as such, is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card, jumping from a cozy draw four and with having 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

Although TRINITY MISSILE is recorded as finishing seventh last time out over 1300M, he was just under three and a half lengths behind the winner, this after showing plenty of toe. He faces a wideish gate nine, but will be having his peak run after returning from a 20 week spell and is sure to appreciate the drop in distance.

DARCI DIVA is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she was caught wide in the early stages before being taken forward to join the leaders before going down narrowly by a head last time out over six furlongs. She is drawn the widest of them all in gate sixteen, but given her style of racing, she is likely to use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy and should be involved in the finish.

Race 8

The day’s value bet, THE MISTRAL has finished third in her last three outings, the latest over this c&d, just over one and a half lengths behind the winner, but he was bumped at the start and overraced in the early stages of that contest. He is drawn wide in gate twelve, but he is a speedy sort who should be able to work his way across without using up too much energy.

SPRING BREAK won his penultimate start over nine furlongs and then finished eighth last time out over 1950M, just under seven and a half lengths adrift of the winner. He returns from a 42 week absence and has his first run for his new trainer, but has had the two barrier trials, winning the latest and will have 2kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice. Despite a wideish draw nine, the fact that his connections have brought him back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believe that he still has something more to offer them.

BONCASSIE is a 3yr old filly taking on males, but she showed marked improvement to finish third in her last outing over 1257M, three lengths behind the winner. She had to be held up on several occasion in that race, so did well to finish as close to the victor as she did. She gets draw six and should give the boys a good run for their money.
