Race 4.

THE DARK KNIGHT put his disappointing penultimate run over this c&d with a second place finish last time out over the same c&d, just a half length behind the winner. He travelled outside the leader that day, hitting the front at the entrance to the home straight, before being run out of it very late. From gate five, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

NOTHING’S SACRED is seldom far off the action and overraced in the early stages before ending up in second place last time out over a mile, just over a half length back from the winner. The gelding is drawn the widest of them all in gate fourteen, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy and will be having his peak run since returning from a 38 week break.

KANALAIDE was slow away, but delivered a powerful finish from midfield to win his latest outing over this c&d by a half length going away. He will have to negotiate draw nine, but nevertheless, he should be included in all bets.

Race 5.

SUPER EXTREME has only had the three starts to date, winning over five furlongs on debut and then putting his disappointing second start over six furlongs behind him to finish fourth last time out over five furlongs, just under a length back from the victor, this despite coming three wide into the home straight. He was returning from a 23 week rest that day and from draw six, he looks to be the one to side with in this line-up.

LONELY POWER last four runs have yielded a fourth and three third placed finishes, the latest over 1300M, just over a length off the winner. He did race four wide approaching the home stretch in that contest, but still made good late progress over the closing stages. He will have to deal with a wide draw eleven, but he should be doing his best work late.

PULL THE TAIL is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she followed up her penultimate run victory over this c&d with a second spot finish next time out also over the c&d, just under a half length behind the winner. She tried to go from jump to wire that day and from gate seven, she will probably adopt the same tactics today.

Race 6.

Three runners from the Cameron Crockett stable could fight out the finish to this race and complete the trifecta, but the day’s value bet, PRIMAL SCREAM is taken to lead the trio home. He sat just behind the leaders and then accelerated well to win his last start over five furlongs, albeit by just a short-head. The gelding has his peak run after returning from a 21 week break and notwithstanding a wideish draw eight, he could chalk up his nineth career victory.

COMMANDO HUNT has consistent formlines to his name and was slow away finding himself some way back from the leaders last time out over 1100M, but found a delivered finish to be just over a length off the winner, when returning from a 23 week absence. He faces a wide draw fourteen, but given his style of racing, he is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the latter part of the race. He makes a solid back-up for the yard.

DON’TFORGETMONICA is a 6yr old mare taking on males. She disappointed in her penultimate start over seven furlongs, but then corrected that by finishing second next time out over six furlongs, just a length back from the winner and has won a subsequent barrier trial. She gets gate seven and should give the boys a good run for their money.

Race 7.

LE MELODY is a 4yr old filly taking on boys, but she has only had the four runs to date, chalking up two wins and a second place finish last time out over five furlongs, just a length back from the victor. She struck the front at the top of the home straight that day and then battled all the way down to the wire. She also attracted plenty of betting support that day and despite being drawn in barrier nine, she will be hoping to make amends today and, as such, she is made the best bet on the day’s card.

PUERTO RICO goes for his hat-trick after two wins over today’s c&d, the latest by just over a length. He showed plenty of toe that day and from his useful draw four, he could emerge as the biggest threat to the top choice.

MYSTERY LAD raced three wide the whole way before finishing second last time out over five furlongs, just over a half length behind the winner. The gelding has pulled gate seven and with better luck in running, he should be involved in the finish.
