Race 4
BEAN ROCKING has consistent form lines to his credit and sat just behind the leaders and then accelerated smartly to finish second last time out over 1300M, failing by just 0.7L to pick off the winner. The gelding is drawn wide in gate nine, but he should be doing his best work late.
BOWDARCIE on the other hand has cracked pole position and has put in two solid last runs, the latest when finishing fourth over 1100M, just under two lengths behind the winner. He came four wide approaching the home turn that day and had to be steadied off the heels of another runner but stayed on well over the closing stages. He should be right up there when they hit the line.
SYSTEMIC is seldom too far off the action and battled all the way down to the wire when finishing third last time out over 1100M, 4.3L back from the winner. He gets draw six and should be included in all bets. There is an unraced runner in the field, so keep an eye on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether his connections believe that they can win first time out. Any betting support for him should be respected.
Race 5
POWDER MAN followed up his penultimate run victory over 1100M with a second-place finish next time out over the same sprint trip, 0.7L back from the winner, but he came three wide approaching the home turn on that occasion, before making good late progress. He attracted plenty of betting support that day and from pole position, he will be hoping to make amends today.
TOY BOY ROY also won his penultimate start, but in his case over 800M and then finished second next time out over five furlongs, just over a half length back from the victor and the form of that race has been franked. The gelding jumps from gate five and will have 1.5kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.
GRANDELLIE is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she stayed on well from some way back to finish sixth last time out over 1100M, 3.8L off the winner. She faces a wideish draw eight, but she should give the males a good run for their money.
Race 6
MISS SUPER is a 4yr old filly taking on boys, but she won over this c&d three runs back and then finished sixth in her penultimate start when stepping up to six furlongs, before ending up in second place last time out back over this c&d, just a neck behind the winner. She was bumped and became unbalanced approaching the home turn, but still managed to strike the front at the 175M mark, before being collared in the shadow of the post for a neck loss. She will have to negotiate draw twelve, but she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy and is made the best bet on the day’s card.
SCHILLER BAY finished sixth in his latest outing over six furlongs, but that was at a stronger center. He has not fared much better with his draw ten, but he has his peak run after returning from a 30 week spell and should not be lightly dismissed.
LUCKY SHAM is a 5yr old mare who has finished third in three of her last four runs, the latest over this c&d, 1.7L off the winner. She stayed on well that day and whilst drawn wideish in gate eight, she should be involved in the finish.
Race 7
The day’s value bet, MISS LAQUETTA is a 4yr old filly taking on males. She was slow away losing two lengths at the start last time out over seven furlongs, finding herself at the rear of the field, but she weaved her way through the traffic in the home straight to win going away from the opposition by 0.7L and the form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. She is sure to put her pole position to good use and could give jockey Jon Grisedale his second winner in the day’s Jackpot should the top pick win the second leg.
DON’T FORGET DAD has consistent form lines to his name and did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight, only seeing daylight at the 200M mark, before finishing well to end up in fifth spot last time out over six furlongs, just a length and a half behind the winner. The gelding also had to be eased at the 50M pole and from his cozy draw three, he should turn in another honest effort here.
LUCKY BANNER is a 5yr old mare who finished second in her latest outing over six furlongs, one length behind the victor, when returning from a 26 week break and having her first run for her new trainer. She was however hampered at the 200M mark that day before finishing well, so that effort was encouraging. She will have to overcome a wide draw ten, but she is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the latter part of the race.
