Race 4

There are three unraced runners in the field, so as is always the case in these types of races, a keen eye should be kept on the betting markets to determine whether any of the connections believe that they can win first time out. Any betting support for a runner or runners should be respected. Of the raced runners AUSBRED YAHOO may well prove to be the best. She is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she has produced two solid last runs, the latest, although sixth over 1100M, was just 3.2L behind the winner, this after being slow away and coming wide approaching the home turn and the form of that race has been franked. She gets a hand draw two and will have her peak run after returning from a 21-week break.

PHILADELPHIA FREE last three runs have yielded a second and two third-place finishes, the latest over six furlongs, 0.8L back from the winner. He is drawn the widest of them all in gate fifteen, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy and turn in another honest performance today.

ACEY is another 4yr old filly in the race. She was returning from a 42-week spell when finishing fifth last time out over five furlongs, just under seven lengths adrift of the victor, but she was crowded at the start and raced wide throughout. She faces a wide gate ten, but nevertheless, should not be easily overlooked in this line-up.

Race 5

The day’s best bet, CONTINUUM is seldom far off the action and had finished second in her four runs prior to ending up in ninth place last time out over six furlongs, 2.8L behind the winner, but she had to be held up approaching the home turn that day but finished her race off well. From her useful draw three, she could prove hard to topple.

SHE’S SPICY had her consistency rewarded with a 1.8L victory last time out over five furlongs. She sat just behind the leaders, before striking the front at the 150M mark and then held off the chasing pack in the dash down to the wire. She has pulled a wideish draw eight, but she should be right up there when they hit the line.

ALL A LADY has finished second in her last two outings, the latest over five furlongs, just a half-length off the winner. She found plenty of betting support that day and from a cosy gate two, she will be hoping to make amends today.

Race 6

KILLZY finished sixth on debut over five furlongs and then showed the expected improvement to win his last start over six furlongs by 0.8L and was immediately rested for 25 weeks. He returns here without having had the benefit of a barrier trial, so his fitness will have to be taken on trust, but has drawn gate four and looks to be the one to side with here.

MONTE DI FIORE showed marked improvement when finishing second last time out over five furlongs, just a half-length behind the winner. He tried to go from jump to wire on that occasion, but has snared just short of the line. He gets gate six and will have 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

OBLIVION followed up his penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a tenth spot finish next time out over five furlongs, eight lengths back from the winner, but he was heavily bumped at the start before over racing early and coming three wide into the home stretch. The gelding will have to overcome a wide draw eleven, but nonetheless, he should be included in all bets.

Race 7

FOUR EGOS has cracked pole position and won over this journey three runs back and finished ninth in his latest outing over the same trip, three lengths off the winner, but whilst racing up with the pace in that contest, he was stuck out two wide the whole way and not unsurprisingly did not quite finish his race off. With better luck in running today, he should return to winning ways and is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card.

JUSTADUDE had solid form prior to finishing a disappointing eighth last time out over six furlongs, 6.2L behind the winner and from gate six, he will be hoping to bounce back to some of his better form today.

DRACHENFELS raced three wide without cover, but made good late progress when ending up in fourth place last time out over seven furlongs, just over a length and a half back from the victor. From his even kinder gate three, the gelding should be considered a big runner here.
