Race 5

PALAZZO PRINCE won by a length when making his debut over 1100M despite racing green throughout and the form of that race has been franked. He would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, he could be the one that they all have to beat, jumping from gate six and having 1.5kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

CANNY PROSPECT had his consistency rewarded with his maiden victory last time out over 1100M by putting 4.3L between himself and the opposition. He struck the front at the 200M mark, and the contest was over from that point. The gelding has a handy draw three and could be the biggest danger to the top pick.

GOONOO has cracked pole position and won first time out over six furlongs by 1.8L, notwithstanding losing two lengths at the start and being trapped three wide without cover. He returns from a 31-week break but has had two barrier trials, finishing fourth in both to showcase his well-being.

Race 6

RHUMBADU is a 4-year-old filly taking on the boys, but she has consistent formlines to her name and followed up her penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a second-place finish next time out over the same sprint trip, 0.8L back from the winner. She jumped awkwardly that day, but battled all the way down to the line and from gate five and with having 2kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice, she looks to be the one to side with here.

SIXFOOTONE won his penultimate start over 1300M and then tried to go from jump to wire before being outrun late, finishing sixth over seven furlongs, just under two lengths back from the victor. The gelding has a useful draw two and is likely to attempt similar tactics today.

RUBI AIR is a 5-year-old mare who has won two of her last four outings, the latest over six furlongs by 0.8L. She showed plenty of toe that day and whilst drawn the widest of them all in gate eighteen, she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy and will also have the services of a 2kg claiming apprentice.

Race 7

THAT’S BETTER goes for his hat-trick after victories over five furlongs and the latest over 950M by three and a half lengths. He raced just behind the leader before striking the front at the 200M to win going away. The gelding has pulled gate seven and will have 1.5kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

DEVINE CHOPS has only had the three runs to date, winning his penultimate start over five furlongs and then ending up in ninth place next time out over the same trip, just over four lengths adrift of the victor, this after racing just behind the speed. The gelding is drawn one inside the top choice and will be having his peak run after returning from a 41-week break.

COMPELLING TRUTH won his penultimate start over 1100M and was then reported to have been lame when finishing sixth next time out when stepping up to six furlongs, just under six and a half lengths behind the winner. He in turn is drawn one inside the latter and the fact that his connections have brought him back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believe that he still has something more to offer them.

Race 8

RAGING RUSH is seldom far off the action, finishing second last time out over 1100M, just a head back from the winner. He overraced early and then hung out approaching the home turn, but still managed to stay on well. He has a wide draw nine to negotiate, but he should be doing his best work late and is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card.

SUPER EXTREME had finished second in his two runs before ending up in eleventh spot last time out over 1300M, four and a half lengths behind the winner, but that was at a stronger centre, and he did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight. The form of that race has however stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning and although draw wide in gate fifteen, with better luck in running, he should not be easily discounted.

BRIEF STATEMENT is a 5-year-old mare taking on males, but she showed marked improvement to win her last start over five furlongs by a head when returning from a 24-week spell. She raced three wide throughout that day, so that effort was encouraging, and the form of that race has been franked. She on the other hand has a cozy draw three and will have 1,5kgs removed from her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.
