Race 7

ANAMOE has won eight Group 1 races to date, including his latest victory over a mile by 1.3L, this despite jumping awkwardly and coming three wide into the home straight. He struck the front at the 250M mark and the result was never in doubt from that point. He is drawn the widest of them all in gate eleven, but he should add to his already impressive record and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

ARTORIUS on the other hand has cracked pole position and won a Group 1 event last time out over 1300M, albeit by just a head. That was his first run since he arrived back in Australia after two runs in the UK and one outing in France. He would have come on further with that run under his belt and looks to be the biggest danger to the top choice.

FANGIRL is a four year old filly taking on the boys, but she finished second to the top pick last time out in the race mentioned above, that 1.3L behind, but it should be noted that she had to be held up early in the home straight that day and was then bumped 50M from the wire. She is drawn in gate seven, but as the pair meet on the same weight terms today, she may well have to settle for the same result.

Race 8

LEARNING TO FLY is a two year old filly taking on males, but she is unbeaten in her three runs to date, including a Group 3 victory on debut over 1100M and the latest a short-head win in a Group 2 event over six furlongs. She showed plenty of toe that day and then held off the chasing pack in the dash down to the line. She gets a handy draw four and the quartet of victories is very much on the cards.

CYLINDER goes for his hat-trick after wins over 1100M (Group 2) and the latest over six furlongs (Group 2) by 0.7L. He raced just behind the leader that day and then quickened well to win with a bit in hand. He is drawn one inside the top pick and will have his peak run after returning from a 12 week rest.

SHINZO had his consistency rewarded with a 1.7L victory last time out in a Group 3 race over six furlongs. He turned last into the home stretch on that occasion and was forced to come four wide, but he delivered a powerful finish to win going away from the opposition. He gets champion UK jockey Ryan Moore in the saddle and he is sure to put his pole position to good use.

Race 9

UNCOMMON JAMES is a six time winner from eight starts and has finished second in the other two, so he clearly has plenty of ability. He hit the front at the 100M mark when winning his last start over 1100M by 0.8L and then stayed on strongly over the closing stages. The gelding has pulled a handy draw four and will have his peak run after returning from a 26 week break. He renews his rivalry with

ASFOORA who is a four year old filly taking on boys, but she missed out on her hat-trick after wins over five furlongs and 1100M when finishing third to the former in the race referred to above, but just a length back. She jumped awkwardly and was returning from a 17 week absence in that event and she does meet the top pick on 2.5kg better terms here, which would normally be enough to reverse that result, but the former is still preferred, given that the latter is having her second run after a rest.

EDUARDO returns from slightly longer 18 week break and tried to go from jump to wire when finishing second in his latest outing over five furlongs, collared in the shadow of the post to get beaten a short-head over five furlongs. The gelding is drawn wide in gate thirteen, but he is a speedy sort who should be able to work his way across without using up too much energy.

Race 10

PALAISIPAN had solid form prior to disappointing last time out in a Group 1 race over a mile, finishing fifteenth, 7.2L adrift of the victor, but she had to be steadied at the 200M mark that day and the form of that race has worked out well with three runners out of that race subsequently wining. She returns from a 20 week break, but she did win here only barrier trial to showcase her well-being. The mare gets gate five and is made the value bet on the day.

ZAPATEO was returning from a 17 week rest when finishing twelfth last time out in a Group 1 event over 1100M, four and a half lengths back from the victor, but she raced four wide without cover that day, before staying on well over the latter stages. She will have to negotiate a wideish gate eight, but she should nevertheless be right up there when they hit the line.

HYPOTHETICAL has won two of her last three starts, the latest over 1100M by just under a half length when going from gun to tape. She will have to deal with a wide gate twelve, but she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much gas and could prove difficult to reel in over the closing stages.
