Race 7

DEHORNED UNICORN followed up his penultimate run victory over 1100M with a fourth-place finish next time out over the same c&d, just over one and a half lengths back from the winner, but he raced three wide without cover that day and then came four wide into the home straight. He stayed on well over the closing stages and on that effort, he is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card. The gelding faces a wide draw nine, but he should be doing his best work late.

KALINO on the other hand has cracked pole position and goes for his hat-trick after two wins over six furlongs, the latest by a length. He found himself at the back of the field coming into the home straight on that occasion, but struck the front at the 150M to win going away. He has his peak run after returning from a 12-week rest and the trio is very much on the cards.

SPACEWALK has consistent formlines to his name, finishing third last time out over 1100M, just over a length behind the winner, when returning from an 18-week break. He attracted plenty of betting support that day, but had to be held up at the 200M mark. He gets draw six and will have 1.5kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice and he will be hoping to make amends today.

Race 8

GOLDEN MILE has his hat-trick run after two wins over a mile, the latest by a head, but he was bumped on the home turn that day, before hitting the front at the 200M mark and then holding off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire. The colt returns from a 14-week rest, but has finished third in his only barrier trial to showcase his well-being. He has pulled a handy draw four and looks to be the one to side with here.

A 5yr old and a 6yr old mare could chase him home with the slight preference going to FORBIDDEN LOVE who is seldom far off the action, finishing sixth last time out over seven furlongs, just over two and a half lengths back from the winner. She raced just behind the pace in that contest and then finished off her race well and, whilst also returning from a 14-week break, she did win her only barrier trial. She is sure to put her pole position to good use.

MARIAMIA won her last start over 1100M, albeit by just a short-head when returning from a 25-week spell, which clearly was just what she needed. She jumped awkwardly that day, before racing three wide without cover and coming that wide into the home stretch. She is drawn the widest of them all in gate nine, but she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

Race 9

MAJOR ARTIE has finished second in two of his last three runs and tried to go from jump to wire when finishing just a head behind the winner last time out over 1500M. He has pulled gate seven and will be having his peak run after returning from a 27-week break.

BOLD MAC has put in two solid last runs, the latest when fourth over a mile, 2.3L behind the winner, but it should be noted that the gelding came four wide into the home straight in that event and then hung in all the way down to the wire. He has gate five and will be having his peak run after returning from a shorter 18-week absence.

SUPER STRIKE hung out and was bumped at the 600M pole and was also reported to have suffered from heat stress when finishing sixth last time out over a mile, four lengths behind the winner, so that effort is best ignored. He gets a set of blinkers re-fitted and if this move has the desired effect, he should be a big runner here. In addition, the gelding will have 3kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice.

Race 10

The day’s best bet, THINK ABOUT IT has won two of his last three starts and finished third in the other, the latest victory coming over six furlongs by 1.3L., when returning from a 19-week spell. He came four wide into the home straight that day before producing a powerful finish to hit the front at the 200M mark and win going away from the opposition. He is drawn wideish in gate eight, but he could provide the trainer/jockey combination of Joseph Pride and Sam Clipperton with the winners of the first and last leg of the day’s Jackpot.

GRACILISTYLA was returning from an 18-week break when finishing a head second in his latest outing over 1300M, but he only secured a clear run at the 300M pole before finishing off his race well. The gelding will have to negotiate a wide draw twelve, but will have champion jockey James McDonald in the irons, so will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

SOAMI finished well from towards the back of the field when ending up in third spot last time out over 1300M, 2.3L behind the winner. From his far kinder draw two, he should be involved in the finish.
