Race 7

AMELIA’S JEWEL is a four-time Group 2 winner, as well as a Group 1 winner who was returning from a 17-week rest when finishing second last time out over 1400M (G2), 1.3L behind the winner. She made good late progress that day and would have come on further with the run under her belt. From draw five, she looks to be the one to side with here.

SEMANA overraced in the middle stages and came three wide into the home straight when finishing fourth in her latest outing over 1400M, 1.3L back from the victor. She chased hard all the way down to the wire and the form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. The mare is drawn one outside the top pick and should be right up there when they hit the line.

She renews her rivalry with TROPICAL SQUALL who is herself a Group 1 winner, but who finished tenth last time out in the same race mentioned above, 4.3L back from the victor, this after trying to go from jump to wire. It should however be noted that she was reported to have been lame after that event and she has finished third in a subsequent barrier trial. The filly is drawn the widest of them all in gate eight and as the pair meet on the same weight terms today, it may be difficult for her to reverse that last result.

Race 8

BROADSIDING has won his last four starts, the latest over 1600M (G1) by putting 4.3L between himself and the opposition and has finished second in two subsequent barrier trials. The colt had to be steadied at the 1300M mark that day, but struck the front at the 250M pole to win going away. He has cracked pole position and is made the best bet on the day’s card.

STORM BOY won his penultimate outing over 1100M (G3) and then was slow away and hampered shortly after the start, before kicking clear of the field at the top of the home straight, only to be grabbed very late. He on the other hand is drawn the widest in gate eleven, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy. The colt will also be having his peak run after returning from a 21-week break and could emerge as the biggest threat to the top pick.

LINEBACKER did finish fourth in his last start in the same race mentioned above, just over two lengths back from the winner, but he did hang in on the home turn and then did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight, so he had his excuse. He was returning from a 21-week rest on that occasion and from draw seven and with better luck in running, he should be involved in the finish.

Race 9

The day’s value bet, AMOR VICTORIOUS jumped awkwardly bumping another runner, but recovered quickly to take up the lead and was only run out of it late to end up in third place last time out over 1500M, 2.8L off the winner. He gets a set of blinkers fitted for the first time and if these have the desired effect, he should be a big runner here, having his peak run after returning from a 20-week rest and jumping from draw five.

CELESTIAL LEGEND missed out on his quartet after a win over 1400M and two victories over 1600M, when finishing eighth last time out over 1300M, two and a half lengths adrift of the victor. He was returning from a 23-week break that day and finished strongly from too far back. From his handy gate two, he should be considered a big runner here.

BASES LOADED followed up his penultimate run victory over 1600M with a second-place finish next time out over 1300M, just a head back from the winner. He was returning from a 13-week rest that day and sat just behind the pace, before staying on well over the closing stages. He faces a wide draw fourteen, but he is a speedy sort who should be able to work his way across without using up too much gas.

Race 10

Three 4-year-old fillies could fight out the finish to this race and complete the trifecta, but PHARARI is taken to lead the field home. She has won three of her last four outings, the latest over 1000M by 2.8L. She burst clear at the 300M mark and then fought off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire. The filly has pulled a useful gate two and will be hoping to chalk up her fourth career victory today.

CONFESS OUR DREAMS has finished closer to the winner in each of her last three starts, the latest when second over 1100M, just a head behind the victor. She was returning from an 18-week spell that day and tried to go from gun to tape, only to be grabbed in the shadow of the post. The filly will have to deal with a wide draw thirteen, but she is likely to attempt similar frontrunning tactics today.

BONITA QUEEN goes for her hat trick after two victories over 1100M, the latest by two and a half length. She jumped awkwardly in that event, bumping another runner, but picked up the lead before fending off the late chasers courageously. The filly is drawn wide in gate nine, but nevertheless, she should be included in all bets.
