Race 7
ROBUSTO has cracked pole position and has won two of his last three runs, the latest over seven furlongs by 1.8L. He finished strongly that day to win going away and will be looking to chalk up a quick double here.
ESTADIO MESTALLA came four wide into the home straight but stayed on well to finish second in his latest outing over seven furlongs, 2.8L behind the winner. The gelding has his peak run for his new trainer after returning from a 24-week rest. He faces a wideish draw eight, but he should be doing his best work late.
SO RISQUE had his consistency rewarded with a victory last time out over seven furlongs, albeit by just a short-head and despite over racing in the early stages. He is drawn one outside the latter, but nevertheless, he should be included in all bets.
Race 8
The powerful Chris Waller looks to dominate the finish to this race and could complete the trifecta, but the day’s value bet, GRACILISTYLA is taken to lead the field home. He jumped awkwardly, finding himself some way off the pace, but delivered a powerful finish to just fail to catch the winner in the shadow of the post last time out over seven furlongs, for a head defeat. The gelding has a handy draw three and will be hoping to chalk up his third career win here.
SALTCOATS made good late progress when finishing third last time out over 1300M, 3.2L back from the winner. He returns from a 19-week break but has finished second in both of his barrier trials to showcase his well-being and from one gate inside the top pick, he should be right up there when they hit the line.
BUILLT has won three of his last four starts and goes for his hat-trick after victories over a mile and the latest over 1500M by a neck. The gelding came three wide into the home stretch in that event, but finished strongly for a well time victory. He has a useful gate four and makes a solid back-up for the yard.
Race 9
The day’s best bet, OUR KOBISON is a four-time winner from just the seven starts and has finished second and third once, so he clearly has some ability. His latest victory came over 1100M by 1.2L, this after racing just behind the leaders and then kicking clear at the 200M mark to win easing down. The gelding has his peak run after returning from a 21-week spell and jumps from gate seven and he could provide champion jockey James McDonald with his second winner in the day’s Jackpot, should the top choice win the first leg.
DIPSY DOODLE is a 3-year-old filly taking on the boys and missed out on her hat-trick after two wins over 1100M when finishing second over the same sprint trip, beaten just a short-head, but she hung in approaching the home turn in that event, so can be considered an unlucky loser. She is drawn the widest of them all in gate ten, but she gets the services of non-claiming apprentice, Zac Lloyd, son of ex-SA champion jockey, Jeff Lloyd to aid her cause.
SO GOOD SO COOL is seldom far off the action, finishing third in his latest start over six furlongs, two lengths off the winner, but he came the widest into the home straight that day, before finishing off his race well. From his kinder draw four, he should be involved in the finish.
Race 10
Two 3-year-old fillies could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but THE BLACK CLOUD is taken to lead the pack home. She has only had two runs to date, winning on debut over 1100M and then again by 1.3L next time out over the same trip. She was a joint leader into the home straight in that contest, before shooting clear at the 200M pole and the result was never in doubt from that point. She has pulled a useful gate four and the trio is very much here for the taking.
STEFI MAGNETICA on the other hand missed out on her hat-trick after victories over 1100M and five furlongs when finishing second last time out over 1100M, 1.8L behind the winner, but it should be noted that she had to be held up between the 400M and 300M mark on that occasion. She gets Zac Lloyd in the irons and whilst drawn wide in gate nine, she will be having her peak run after returning from a 21-week absence.
WALLENDA has consistent formlines to his credit and battled all the way down to the wire when ending up in second spot last time out over 1100M, 1.3L behind the winner. The colt jumps from gate five and should turn in another honest performance today.
