Race 6

MILITARY EXPERT came four wide into the home straight, but stayed on well when finishing third last time out over a mile, just under two lengths behind the winner. He has a handy draw four and looks to be the one that they all have to beat.

BRIGANTINE had his consistency rewarded with a half length victory last time out over 1300M, this despite racing wide throughout. He finished strongly that day and the form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. He has a wideish draw eight, but he will be having his peak run after an 18 week break and should turn in another honest performance today.

VINCO was slow away but ran on well from some way back to finish sixth in his latest outing over 1300M, 2.2L behind the winner, suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to his liking. The gelding gets gate five and will be having his peak run after returning from a 15 week rest.

Race 7

QUANTICO has consistent formlines to his name, having finished second in his last two runs, the latest over 1100M where he was beaten just a short-head, when returning from a 10 week rest. He was slow away in that event and had to be held up at the 400M mark, so can be considered an unlucky loser. He jumps from gate six and could provide champion jockey James McDonald with the first two legs of the day’s Jackpot. As such, he is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

PRINCE OF BOOM won over five furlongs three runs back, finished third in his penultimate start over six furlongs and then sixth in his latest outing over six furlongs, 2.8L behind the winner. He tried to go from jump to wire that day and from his useful draw four, he is likely to attempt similar tactics today and emerge as the biggest threat to the top choice.

CLEMENCEAU overraced in the early and middle stages and had to be checked off the heels of another runner at the 700M mark before ending up in fourth place last time out over six furlongs, 2.3L back from the victor and the form of that race has been franked. He is drawn one inside the latter and should be involved in the finish.

Race 8

AFFAIRE A SUIVRE completed her hat-trick when winning her last start over ten furlongs, albeit by just a short-head and has finished third in a subsequent barrier trial. She raced four wide without cover in that contest, but stayed on well over the closing stages. Whilst drawn wide in gate thirteen, she should be doing her best work late and the quartet is very much on the card.

RENAISSANCE WOMAN has consistent formlines to her name and followed up her penultimate run victory over nine furlongs with a second place finish next time out over ten furlongs, 0.8L back from the winner, but it should be noted that she was bumped at the 300M mark and raced wide throughout. From her draw six, she should turn in another honest performance today.

PROSCENIUM ARCH renews her rivalry with the latter and is seldom far off the action, finishing fourth last time out over ten furlongs, 2.2L back from the winner in the same race mentioned above. She jumped awkwardly that day and raced wide throughout, but as she meets the second pick on the same weight terms today, she may well have to settle for the same result. She is drawn wideish in gate eight, two wider than the second pick.

Race 9

The day’s value bet, GOLDEN BOOM has won two of his last three starts, the latest over 1100M by a head. He raced just behind the leaders that day, having to be eased at the 800M pole, before finishing the best to claim a narrow victory. He jumps from gate five and will be having his peak run after returning from a 17 week absence.

Two three year old fillies could chase him home, with the slight preference going to RED CARD, who has turned in two solid last runs, the latest when winning by two and a half lengths over 1100M. She struck the front soon after they turned into the home stretch to come away for a comfortable win. She is drawn wide in gate nine, but she does have her peak run after returning from a 17 week rest.

WRITTEN IN CODE has only had the two runs to date, winning over six furlongs on debut and then finishing second next time out over 1100M, two and a half lengths behind the victor, but she did come three wide into the home straight on that occasion. She gets a cozy draw two and would have come on further with that run under her belt.
