Winning Form share all of their best bets and tips for Sunday’s racing coming your way from Moruya on 14 August 2022.
Best Bet: IN DE SUN IWILCOME (Race 7)
Value Bet: PLATARA (Race 4)
Jackpot (race 4 – 7).
PLATARA missed out on his quartet of victories after three wins over five furlongs when stepping up to 1100M, finishing half a length behind the winner, but he was hampered at the 100M mark that day. He returns from a 24 week break, but did finish third in his only barrier trial. The gelding gets a wideish draw seven, but the drop in trip will be to his liking. As such, he is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card.
A 3yr old filly and a 5yr old mare could chase him home, with the slight preference going to ARTIEOS, who won a half length over this c&d on debut. She would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, she could be the biggest danger to the top choice. She is drawn one outside the former, but on the plus side, she will get 4kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.
EMMA’S GIFT has cracked pole position and has finished third in her last three runs, the latest over five furlongs, just over five lengths back from the winner. She stayed on well that day and the form of that race has stood up well with five runners out of that contest subsequently winning. She does have her first run since a shorter 18 week rest and has not had the benefit of a barrier trial, so her fitness will have to be taken on trust, but she not be lightly dismissed here.
NOBLE ATTACK has posted two solid last runs, the latest when second over six furlongs, just a length off the winner. He showed plenty of toe that day and was only run out of it late. He gets gate six and 3kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice and is likely to adopt the same frontrunning tactics here.
PROKLIS is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys and was friendless in the betting markets, but still delivered a powerful finish from some way back to end up in second place first time out, just a half length back from the victor. She would have come on further with that run under her belt and although drawn wide in gate nine, she should prefer the extra ground on offer today.
DEFCON ONE battled all the way down to the wire when third last time out over six furlongs, two lengths adrift of the winner. From his kinder draw two, he should be included in all bets.
This looks to be a tricky race with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. The tentative first pick goes to ZOUOLOGIST who is seldom far off the action, finishing fifth last time out over six furlongs, 2.2L behind the winner. He is sure to put his pole position to good use and turn in another honest performance today.
ALL FORMIDABLE goes for his hat-trick after wins over 1100M and the latest over six furlongs by two lengths. He finished strongly from last place turning for home that day and will get the services of a 1.5kgs claiming apprentice for this run. The gelding will have to overcome a wide fourteen drawn, but given his style of racing, he is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the closing stages of the race.
GIRLS ARE READY is a 6yr old mare taking on males, but she lost two lengths at the start and then came the widest of them all into the home straight, before hanging in over the latter stages, but still managed to end up in fourth place last time out over six furlongs, 2.2L back from the winner. She gets a cozy draw four and should be right up there when they hit the line.
The day’s best bet, IN DE SUN IWILCOME is a 5yr old mare taking on boys, but she raced wide without cover and then came the widest of them all approaching the home turn before finishing fifth in her latest outing over six furlongs, seven lengths behind the winner and was immediately rested for 22 weeks. She returns here after finishing third in her only barrier trial and from gate five, she will be hoping to bounce back to her better form today. A 4yr old filly and a 6yr old mare could emerge as her biggest threats.
LAS VEGAS GIRL won over this sprint trip three runs back and then raced up with the leaders to end up in second spot last time out over this c&d, two lengths behind the winner. She will have to overcome a wide draw fifteen, but she will have 4kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice to aid her cause.
SKY DIAMONDS is the stable companion to the top choice who finished third over five furlongs last time out, 1.2L off the winner when returning from a 31 week spell. She was making good late progress that day and the form of the race has been franked. She has not fared too well with her draw, having pulled gate 13, but nevertheless she makes a solid back-up for the yard.
