Race 5

THE BENTLEY has cracked pole position and tried to go from jump to wire when finishing second last time out over 1500M, just over a half length behind the winner. He could prove hard to reel in over the closing stages.

WING NUT is another who tried to go from gun to tape before ending up in third place last time out over 1400M, four lengths back from the victor. The gelding faces a wide draw eleven, but on the plus side he will have 1.5kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice and he is likely to attempt similar frontrunning tactics today.

RAMPAZETTO raced just behind the leaders when finishing seventh in his latest outing over 1600M, 3.3L off the winner, but that was at a stronger center. The gelding will have to negotiate a wider gate fifteen, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

Race 6

The day’s value bet, SCOUNDREL won over 1300M three runs back, finished fifth in his penultimate start over 1400M and then a disappointing thirteenth in his latest outing over 1500M, 14.4L behind the winner and was immediately rested for 21 weeks, during which time he was gelded. He returns here after having had the benefit of two barrier trials and if he is able to recapture his previous form, he could prove hard to topple.

NAY PEE CEE followed up his penultimate start victory over 1200M with a second place next time out over 1400M, beaten just a short-head. He made good late progress that day and from his handy gate three, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

NO TACKLE has consistent formlines to his name and shifted out at the 200M pole when finishing a creditable third last time out over 1200M, just over a half length behind the winner. The gelding jumps from gate six and should turn in another honest performance here.

Race 7

A 3yr old filly and a 6yr old mare could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but the day’s best bet, SO BE INSPIRED is taken to lead the field home. She came five wide into the home straight, but battled strongly all the way down to the wire to win by 1.3L on debut over 900M. She would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, as well as a useful draw three, she could be the one that they all have to beat.

CATCHY TUNES won over 1100M three runs back, finished seventh in her penultimate start over 1000M and then fourth in her latest outing over 1200M, 2.2L behind the winner. She showed plenty of toe that day and on that effort, she should enjoy the drop in trip. The mare is sure to put her pole position to good use.

WANDJAD missed out on his hat-trick after two victories over 1200M when finishing tenth last time out when stepping up to 1400M, 5.3L behind the winner, but he was slow away that day, losing two lengths, overraced in the early stages and had to be eased off the heels of another runner at the 1000M pole, before been held up at the top of the home straight, so he had his excuses. The gelding has pulled gate six and should be involved in the finish.

Race 8

HIGHLY TEMPTED was returning from an 11 week rest and was bumped at the start when ending up in third spot last time out over 1100M, just over a length and a half back from the winner. Whilst having to deal with a wide gate nine, he will be hoping to chalk up his second career victory in this line-up.

PEE DEE put his disappointing penultimate start over 1100M behind him when showing plenty of speed to win by 0.8L next time out over the same sprint trip. The gelding jumps from gate six and could secure the exacta.

OTIUM has finished second twice, followed by two third place finishes in his last four outings, the latest over 1700M, just over a length and a half behind the victor. He raced three wide without cover in that event, but stayed on well over the latter stages and the form of that race has stood up well with three runners out of that contest subsequently winning. From his cozy draw two and with the services of a 3kg claiming apprentice, he should not be overlooked.
