Race 5.

LEESIDE is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she is seldom far off the action and finished third last time out over six furlongs, one and a half lengths behind the winner. She was slow away that day, but made good late progress over the closing stages and the form of that race has been franked. She jumps from gate five and will have 2kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice to aid her cause.

CONDOVER HALL has cracked pole position and showed marked improvement when finishing well to grab third place last time out over six furlongs 2.3L back from the winner and the form of that contest has also been franked. The gelding will have a similar 2kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice.

QUICK NICK came three wide approaching the home turn before finishing his race off well to end up in third spot last time out over five furlongs, 3.7L off the victor. He gets gate six and should be included in all bets.

Race 6.

TOTO produced a powerful finish to claim second place last time out over five furlongs, one length behind the winner. He jumps from draw six and if his jockey can have him handier turning for home, he could prove hard to topple here and as such, is made the best bet on the day’s card. Two 4yr old fillies could chase him home, with the slight preference going to LUCKY SHAM who missed out on her hat-trick when finishing fifth last time out over six furlongs, 5.7L adrift of the winner. From a handy draw two, he will be looking to bounce back to winning ways today and could emerge as the biggest treat to the top choice.

MISS BALTIMORE put her disappointing penultimate run behind her when finishing third in her latest outing over 900M, 2.7L back from the winner, this despite shifting out in the home straight, costing herself valuable ground. She will have to negotiate draw nine, but she should be doing her best work late.

Race 7.

EIGER goes for his hat-trick after two victories over seven furlongs, the latest by a head, but he was carried wide into the home stretch that day, before finishing his race off strongly, so that effort was commendable. From pole position, the trio looks very much on the cards.

RELUCENT finished sixth last time out over 1550M, just under three and a half lengths behind the winner and was immediately rested for 27 weeks. He returns here after having had four barrier trials, finishing third in the first two and second in the latter pair. The gelding has pulled draw seven and should be right up there when they hit the line.

ACOUSTIX tried to go from gun to tape before ending up in third place last time out over a mile, one length off the winner. He faces a wide gate ten, but the shorter distance is sure to be to his liking.

Race 8.

A 4yr old filly and a 5yr old mare could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but the day’s value bet, DARK HERRING is taken to lead the pack home. She has finished third in her last three outings, the latest when coming home strongly over 1100M, ending up 1.8L behind the winner. She faces a wide draw nine, but given her style of racing, she is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the closing stages of the race. She will be hoping to go two better today.

ATTESTAR is drawn one inside the top pick and won her maiden race last time out over six furlongs by putting 5.2L between herself and the opposition, notwithstanding coming three wide into the home straight. She produced a powerful finish at the 175M mark to kick clear of the field and the contest was over at that point.

KOONDEEMAN tried to make every post a winning post when finishing fifth last time out over 1300M, 3.8L back from the winner. He gets a useful gate three and on that last effort, he should be well suited to the drop trip.
