Race 4.

The day’s best bet, FIELD REGIMENT has had the nine starts to date, chalking up two wins and three second place finishes, the latest one of those seconds over seven furlongs, 0.8L behind the winner, but he raced two wide in second place that day, before kicking clear at the 250M mark, only to be run out of it late. The form of that race has been franked and although drawn the widest of them all in gate nine, on the plus side, he will have 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

ULTIMATE MAN won over six furlongs three runs back and then finished fourth last time out over this c&d, just under four and a half lengths back from the winner when returning from a 10 week rest. He hung out down the home straight that day which did help his cause and jumping from gate seven, he could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice.

FLYING PRETTY is a 6yr old mare taking on the boys, but she is seldom far off the action, finishing second last time out over seven furlongs, 0.8L back from the victor. She struck the front entering the home stretch and was only chased down close to home. Jumping from a handy draw four she has her peak run after returning from a 12 week break and should give the males a good run for their money.

Race 5.

MY WATER LILLY is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she has consistent formlines to her name, finishing third in her latest outing over seven furlongs, just under a length behind the winner. She tried to go from jump to wire that day and from draw six, she is likely to adopt similar tactics today. She could prove difficult to reel in over the closing stages and as such, is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card.

SEA OF QI has finished third in his last two starts, the latest over 1700M, 2.3L off the winner. He attempted to go from gun to tape in that contest and from a wide gate thirteen out of twenty, he may have little option but to race the same way here.

WHATEVER IT TAKES raced four wide approaching the home turn before making good late progress to end up in sixth place last time out over 1700M, four lengths adrift of the winner. He is another who gets a wide draw, in his case, nine, but the gelding should be doing his best work late. There is an unraced runner in the field, so keep an eye on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether his connection believe that they can win first time out. Any betting support for him should be respected.

Race 6.

A 4yr old filly and a 6yr old mare could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but TARA JASMINE gets the nod for top spot. She showed marked improvement to finish third last time out over seven furlongs, beaten a short-head, but she should be seen as an unlucky loser as she was slow away, losing two lengths and then had to be held up between the 600M and 200M marks, before unleashing a powerful finish over the closing stages. She gets draw six and will also have 3kg removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice.

AZARMIN jumped awkwardly and hung in down the home straight when ending up in second place last time out over a mile, just a head back from the winner. She attracted plenty of betting support that day and from her useful gate four, she will be looking to make amends today.

EIGER missed out on his hat-trick after two wins over seven furlongs when finishing seventh last time out when stepping up to a mile, just a half length behind the winner. He is drawn one inside the latter and could do better dropping down to what appears to be a more suitable trip.

Race 7.

FREYA’S CLOAK is a 4yr old filly taking on boys, but she had her consistency rewarded with a just under a length victory last time out over six furlongs. She showed plenty of toe that day and then kept on going well to fend off all the late challengers in the dash down to then wire. She has pulled draw six and should be right up there in the mix.

ALPHA GO’S last three runs have yielded a third, fourth and the latest, a second-place finish over five furlongs, beaten just a short-head, this despite racing three wide without cover and being bumped midway through the contest. The form of that race has been franked and the gelding is drawn one outside the top choice, so he should keep the former honest.

AHEADOFHISTIME was a tad disappointing when finishing nineth in his latest outing over six furlongs, ending up nearly six lengths adrift of the winner, but it should be noted that he had to be held up on several occasions between the 600M and 400M marks that day, so that effort is best ignored. He in turn is drawn one outside the latter and will have the services of a 2kg claiming apprentice., so should be included in all bets.
