Race 5.

THE MILKYBAR KID is seldom far off the action and attracted plenty of betting support when finishing second last time out over a mile, just a half length behind the winner. He was returning from a 16 week rest that day and tried to go from jump to wire, but hung out on the home turn and down the straight, so can be considered an unlucky loser. He has won a subsequent barrier trial and whilst drawn wide in gate nine, he gets a set of blinkers fitted for the first time. If these have the desired effect, he should be a big runner here and as such, he is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

COUNT ON ME showed marked improvement to finish second last time out over a mile, 2.8L behind the winner. The gelding came three wide into the home straight in that contest, before making good late progress over the closing stages. He jumps from draw six and will have his peak run after returning from a 19 week break and could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice.

DASH DASH DASH was drawn wide last time out and found himself at the back of the field before staying on well to end up in sixth place over a mile, five lengths adrift of the winner. He returns from a longer 23 week break, but has had the one barrier trial and the form of that last race has been franked. Although drawn wideish in gate eight, he should be involved in the finish.

Race 6.

OAKFIELD STORM goes for his hat-trick after two wins over seven furlongs, the latest by 0.8L when returning from an 11 week rest, despite coming three wide into the home stretch. He finished his race off well and from gate six, he should be doing his best work late.

DENARAU is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she had her consistency rewarded with her maiden victory by one and a half lengths last time out over a mile. She came three wide into the home straight that day, before hitting the front at the 150M pole to win going away. She is drawn one outside the top choice and whilst taking on stronger here, she may well be up to the task at hand.

THE MAXINATOR finished fourth last time out over seven furlongs, but he was just a length back from the victor. He raced just behind the leaders that day and stayed on well over the closing stages. He in turn is drawn one outside the latter and should be included in all bets.

Race 7.

The day’s value bet, HARLEM GROOVE has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three runs, the latest when third over 1300M, a length and a half adrift of the victor. He battled all the way down to the wire that day and the form of the race has been franked. He has his peak run after returning from a 29 week absence and if he has continued down that same path of improvement, he could prove hard to topple, notwithstanding a wide gate ten.

ONE WAY STREET won over six furlongs three runs back and then jumped awkwardly last time out when ending up in sixth spot over the same sprint trip, just over a length back from the winner. He stayed on well that day and from one gate outside the former, he should not be lightly dismissed.

RUNNING BEAR is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she is another who won over this distance three runs back before ending up in second place last time out when stepping up to seven furlongs, 2.8L behind the winner, but it should be noted that she had to be eased at the 1000M that day. She is drawn one inside the latter and should give the boys a good run for their money.

Race 8.

DIVINE OKAY has only had the three runs to date and followed up his penultimate run victory over five furlongs with a third place finish over the same c&d next time out, just a length off the winner. He jumped awkwardly that day and was then badly hampered shortly after the start, so that effort was encouraging. The gelding has pulled a wide gate ten, but with better luck in running today, he looks to be the one to side with here.

XPRESSO stayed on well to end up in third spot last time out over six furlongs, two lengths behind the winner. He is drawn the widest of them all in gate fifteen, but given his style of racing, he is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the closing stages of the race.

SIYATA is a 4yr old filly taking on boys, but she overraced in the early and middle stages and understandably had little to offer over the latter stages, finishing seventh over 1100M, just over six lengths off the winner. She has won a subsequent barrier trial and from draw seven, she should runner in this line-up.
