Race 5

There are two unraced runners in the field, so keep an eye on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether either of the connections believe that they can win first time out. Any betting support for either, or both, should be respected. Of the raced runners, MISTY DREAMS may prove to be the best. She is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys and is a long-time maiden, but she finished third last time out over 1100M, just over a half-length behind the winner, when returning from a 19-week break and the form of that race has been franked. She will have to negotiate draw nine, but she could finally get it right today.

EPICUS finished seventh over 1300M last time out, just under three lengths back from the winner, when having his first run for his new stable. He showed plenty of toe that day and was only run out of it late, suggesting that the drop in trip will be to his liking. The gelding has a handy gate two and could prove difficult to reel in over the closing stages.

HARRY TUDOR has only had the two runs to date, finishing ninth last time out over seven furlongs, just over four lengths behind the winner and was immediately rested for 36 weeks. It should however be noted that he was bumped at the start that day and had to be eased off the heels of another runner at the 600M mark. He returns here after having had the two barrier trials, finishing second in the first and third in the latest. He gets draw five and should be included in all bets.

Race 6

As with the previous race, there are unraced runners in this contest, so the same comment in respect of keeping an eye on the betting moves applies here as well. OZZMOSIS makes his debut and has cracked pole position. He has had the benefit of three barrier trials, winning all three of them and the engaging of champion jockey James McDonald would indicate that the connections are expecting a big run from the 3yr old colt.

GETTY is a 2yr old gelding who finished second first time out over five furlongs and then overraced three wide in the early and middle stages when ending up in fifth place next time out over 1100M, 2.8L off the victor. He has his first run after a 15-week rest but has finished second in his two barrier trials to showcase his well-being. From a useful draw three, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

TAMAROA has finished second in both of his runs over five furlongs, beaten just a short-head last time out after being slow away and having to be steadied off the heels of other runners at the 600M mark, then held up and bumped at the 200M pole, so he can be considered an unlucky loser. The form of that race has also stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning and whilst drawn the widest of them all in gate twelve, on the plus side he will have 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

Race 7

Three 3yr old fillies could fight out the finish to this race and complete the trifecta, but the day’s value bet, DOUBTLESS LADY is taken to lead the field home. She struck the front at the 100M mark from some way back to win her maiden race last time out over five furlongs by a head. She takes on stronger here, but she is sure to put her pole position to good use and could well be up to the task at hand.

RINGDEMBELLS had her consistency rewarded with her maiden victory last time out over five furlongs, albeit by just a short-head. She raced three wide in that event and did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight, so that effort was encouraging. She has pulled gate five and will be having her peak run after returning from a 20-week rest.

DEEP EXPECTATION is drawn one outside the latter and has finished closer to the winner in each of her last three starts, the latest when fourth over five furlongs, just under three and a half lengths behind the winner, when having her first run for her new yard. She would have come on further with that run under her belt and should not be lightly overlooked.

Race 8

Two 3yr old fillies could battle out the finish to this race and secure the exacta, but the day’s bets bet, FRILLED could find herself in the winner’s box. She has only had the two runs to date, winning both over five furlongs, the first by 3.3L and the latest by two lengths and could be just about anything. She went from jump to wire last time out, comfortably holding off the late challengers in the dash down to the wire. She gets gate six and the hat-trick is very much on the cards.
SMILING PROPHET had solid form prior to finishing a disappointing eleventh last time out when stepping up to 1100M, 7.5L adrift of the victor, but she did race three wide on that occasion. She is drawn nine out of nine, but she will be having her peak run after returning from a 19-week absence and will have 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.

ONE DESTINY raced just behind the leaders before producing a powerful finish to win his last start over six furlongs by a length. The gelding gets a kinder draw four and should be involved in the finish.
