Race 4

There are three unraced runners in the field, so as is always the case in these types of races, a keen eye should be kept on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether any of the connections believe that they can win first-time out. Any betting support for a runner or runners should be respected. Of the raced runners, QUEEN MAXIMA may well prove to be the best. She is a 4-year-old filly taking on the boys, but she is seldom far off the action, finishing second last time out over five furlongs, two lengths back from the winner. She jumped awkwardly that day, but battled all the way down to the wire, suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to her liking. She has her first run for her new trainer and if fully settled into her new surroundings, she should give a good account of herself here, jumping from a handy draw four.

O’EXPLOSIVE was slow away and bumped shortly after the start when finishing eighth first time out over six furlongs, six and a half lengths behind the winner and was immediately rested for 27 weeks. He returns here after having had two barrier trials, finishing third in the first and second in the latest. The gelding would have learnt from that experience and from one gate inside the top pick, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

CANADIAN EXPRESS is the stable companion to the latter and has his first outing, but has had two barrier trials, finishing second in the latest. He in turn is drawn one inside the latter and if not too green, he should give a good account of himself here and makes a solid back-up for the yard.

Race 5

MAGIC STELLA is a 3-year-old filly taking on males, but she showed solid improvement to end up in fourth place in her latest outing over 1300M, just under a length and a half back from the winner. She raced just behind the leaders that day, before staying on well over the latter stages, despite shifting outwards from the 200M mark. She will have to negotiate a wide draw nine, but she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

TIGER TOWN has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three starts, the latest when second over 1300M, just a half-length behind the winner. He was slow away in that event and travelled three wide throughout, but still managed to finish off his race well. The gelding has pulled gate seven and will have 1.5kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

AUGUSTA MOON put his disappointing penultimate start over five furlongs behind him when winning his maiden race by a half-length next time out when stepping up to six furlongs, in just his second start for his new trainer and at only the third time of asking. He takes on stronger here, but has a useful draw three and will have 1.5kg removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice.

Race 6

PINK PANTHER goes for his hat-trick after victories over seven furlongs and the latest over a mile when putting 3.8L between himself and the opposition. He went from jump to wire that day and from his useful draw four and with him having 2kgs taken off his back for the services of his claiming apprentice, he could prove difficult to reel in over the latter stages and as such, he is made the best bet on the day’s card.

Two 3-year-old fillies could chase him home, with the slight preference going to FUDGE, who had her consistency rewarded with her maiden victory last time out over a mile, albeit by just a short-head. She went from gun to tape in that contest and whilst taking on stronger here, she may well be up to the task at hand. The filly is another who will have a 2kg claiming apprentice in the irons and should turn in another honest effort today.

LEPO won over a mile three runs back, finished eleventh in her penultimate start over the same journey and then third in her latest outing, also over a mile, 5.7L behind the winner, but she did lose three lengths at the start, so that effort is best ignored. She is drawn one inside the latter and should be involved in the finish.

Race 7

Two fillies and a mare could fight out the finish to this race and complete the trifecta, but the day’s value bet, PRETTY VEGAS is taken to lead the field home. She followed up her penultimate run victory over five furlongs with an eighth-place finish next time out over 1100M, just over four lengths back from the winner, but she raced three wide without cover that day. The filly is drawn the widest of them all in gate thirteen, but on the plus side, she will have 2kgs removed from her allocated weight for the services of her claiming apprentice.

Although SUPER VOGUE is recorded as finishing eighth last time out over six furlongs, she was just 2.8L behind the victor, but she had no luck in running that day. She was crowded at the 550M mark, came three wide into the home stretch and was then held tight at the 100M pole. From her kinder gate seven, she should be right up there when they hit the line.

PICASSO’S DREAM has cracked pole position and had finished third in her three runs over six furlongs prior to winning her latest outing over the same sprint trip by 2.3L. She burst clear of the field at the 200M mark to win gearing down and should be included in all bets.
