Race 4
BESTOWER is a 3-year-old filly taking on the boys, but she finished second on debut over six furlongs, 2.3L behind the winner, this after having had four barrier trials. She did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight that day, only seeing daylight at the 300M mark and then also hung in down the home straight. She would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, she could be the one that they all have to beat, jumping from her handy draw three and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.
BORN CONQUEROR has cracked pole position and was hampered in the early stages and then forced to race three wide without cover, before staying on well to end up in second place last time out over a mile, 3.3L behind the winner. The form of that race has been franked and he could emerge as the biggest danger to the top pick.
UNCUT GEM is a 4-year-old filly who also finished second in her last start, but in her case over 1300M, two and a half lengths back from the victor. She was having her first run for her new trainer and did jump awkwardly, but ran on well over the closing stages. She on the other hand is drawn the widest of them all in gate eighteen, but on the plus side, she will get 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.
Race 5
MY MUM’S TOYBOY was slow away and raced three wide without cover, but battled all the way down to the wire to win by a length first time out over five furlongs. He has a handy draw three and could prove good enough to chalk up a quick double here.
GRAND HORIZON is a 4-year-old filly taking on males, but she had her consistency rewarded with a length victory last time out over 1100M. She sat just behind the leaders and then struck the front at the top of the home straight and held off the chasing pack in the dash down to the wire. She will have to negotiate a wideish gate eight, but she will have 2kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice. The filly does return from a 25-week break, but has finished third in her only barrier trial.
SAVOCA followed up his penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a fifth-place finish next time out over seven furlongs, four and a half lengths back from the winner. He tried to go from jump to wire that day and from one gate inside the latter and with a 2kg claiming apprentice in the irons, he is likely to attempt similar tactics today.
Race 6
TAYLA’S ONE is a 5-year-old mare bumping boys, but she won her penultimate start over six furlongs and then finished eighth next time out over 1300M, 3.7L off the winner, but she came four wide into the home stretch in that event and her jockey put up 0.5kgs overweight, so she had her excuses. She has her first run since a 21-week rest, but finished second in her only barrier trial to prove her well-being. The mare has a useful draw two and will have 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.
ADAMDEEANT made good late progress from just behind the leaders to end up in third spot last time out over five furlongs, 1.2L behind the winner. The gelding is drawn the widest of them all in gate thirteen but will have 2kgs taken off his back courtesy of his claiming apprentice.
NOCI DI COCCO has won two of his last three outings and finished second in the other, so is in good form. The latest victory coming over five furlongs, albeit by just a short-head. He raced four wide without cover in that event, but stayed on well over the latter stages. The gelding gets a cosy gate four and will have a 2kg claiming in the saddle.
Race 7
CHESTIME is a 4-year-old filly taking on males, but she won over 1300M three runs back, finished second in her penultimate start over six furlongs and then third in his latest outing over the same sprint trip, 2.8L behind the winner. She will have to deal with a wide gate nine, but she will be having her peak run after returning from a 22-week break.
RAISED BY WOLVES won his penultimate outing over 1300M and then finished third last time out over a mile, three and a half lengths adrift of the victor, but he had to be held up on the home turn in that contest. The gelding has a cosy draw four and will have the services of a 2kg claiming apprentice.
SILVER HALO is a 3-year-old filly who has only had two runs to date, finishing fourth on debut over six furlongs and then showing the expected improvement to win next time out over 1300M by putting two and a half lengths between herself and the opposition. She accelerated smartly at the 100m pole that day to win going away. The filly faces a wide draw fourteen, but she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy and should be included in all bets.
