Race 4

BETHENCOURT has won two of his last three starts, the latest when putting four lengths between himself and the opposition over seven furlongs. He sat just behind the leaders that day and then hit the front at the 350M mark and the race was over as a contest from that point, this despite losing a near-fore shoe. He jumps from gate six and will have 1.5kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice. As such, he is made the best bet on the day’s card.

MACH SCHNELL had his consistency rewarded with a 2.8L victory last time out over seven furlongs. He kicked clear of the field at the 300M pole and then held off the chasing pack in the dash down to the wire. From his handy draw two, he looks to be the immediate danger to the top choice.

GET THE IDEA is seldom far off the action and had to be switched at the 350M mark last time out before staying on well to end up in third place last time out over nine furlongs, 0.8L back from the winner. The gelding has a wideish gate eight, but nevertheless he should be involved in the finish.

Race 5

QUIET RIOT has cracked pole position and followed up his penultimate run victory over five furlongs with a third place finish next time out over the same sprint trip, notwithstanding jumping awkwardly. He has his peak run after returning from a 22 week break and should be right up there when they hit the line.

SACHELLO is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys and was hampered at the start when she missed out on her hat-trick last time out, finishing sixth over six furlongs, three lengths back from the winner. She tried to go from jump to wire that day and from gate six and with having 2kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice, she should give the males a good run for their money. She returns from a 25 week break, but she has had the benefit of two barrier trials, finishing second in the first and winning the latest.

WASHINGTON TOWERS also missed out on his hat-trick after two victories over five furlongs when finishing fourth last time out when stepping up to 1100M, just under six and a half lengths adrift of the winner. He is drawn one outside the latter and will get the services of a 3kg claiming apprentice. The gelding should appreciate the drop back in trip.

Race 6

BELLA ROUGE won her penultimate start over seven furlongs and then had nothing go her way when finishing second next time out over 1300M, one length behind the winner. She had to be eased at the 1000M mark and was then crowded at the 600M pole, so that effort was encouraging. She was returning from a 26 week break that day and with better luck in running today and from draw five, she should be in the shake up here.

FEARNOUGHT is the stable companion to the top pick and showed good improvement to win her maiden race last time out over six furlongs by a head when returning from a shorter 18 week rest. She jumped awkwardly in that contest and then came three wide into the home straight, but stayed on well over the latter stages. She faces a wide draw ten, but she makes a solid back-up for the powerful Chris Waller yard.

LUCKY SHAM goes for her hat-trick after wins over 1100M and the latest over six furlongs by a head. She sat just off the pace that day and then quicken well over the closing stages and is sure to put her cozy draw two to good use.

Race 7

A 4yr old and a 3yr old filly can fight out the finish to this race and secure the exacta, but the day’s value bet, ITA gets the nod for top place. She has consistent formlines to her name and came the widest of them all into the home straight before finishing well to end up in second spot last time out over 2100M, 0.8L behind the winner. She attracted plenty of betting support that day and should have no issues with the drop in distance. From gate ten, she will be hoping to make amends today.

FINEPOINT has her hat-trick outing after wins over seven furlongs and the latest over 1500M by a head, despite having to be steadied at the seven furlongs mark and coming four wide into the home stretch. The form of that race has been franked and from a useful draw two, she should keep the former honest. She does return from a 20 week rest, but has had three barrier trials to showcase her well-being.

RANGI TOA has won three of his last four starts and run second in the other, so clearly has some ability. He won his first outing in Australia when going from gun to tape to claim victory over seven furlongs by 0.8L. The gelding will have to negotiate gate ten, but he could prove good enough to chalk up a quick double in his new homeland.
