Race 4

ROCKIN’ MILLIE is a 4-year-old filly taking on the boys, but she has only had three runs to date, finishing second in all three, the latest over five furlongs, just a half-length behind the winner, but she lost two lengths at the start that day and then hung out from the 200M mark. She returns here after a 23-week break but has had two barrier trials, winning the latest. The filly is drawn the widest of them all in gate eleven, but on the plus side, she will have 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.

MAXIMUM RIDE was slow away and had to weave his way through traffic down the home straight when finishing second on debut over five furlongs, 3.3L back from the winner. He would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected and from a handy draw three, he is sure to test the top pick.

MUST BE MAGIC is another 4-year-old filly in the race. She has finished closer to the winner in each of her last three starts, the latest when second over six furlongs, lust under a half-length behind the winner when having her first outing for her new stable. She resumes from a 25-week break but has had the benefit of a barrier trial to showcase her well-being. The filly will have to negotiate a wide draw ten, but she will have 3kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice.

* There is an unraced runner in the field, so keep an eye on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether his connections believe that they can win first time out. Any betting support for him should be respected.

Race 5

FOUR O’CLOCK KNOCK followed up his penultimate run victory over a mile with a disappointing seventh-place finish next time out when stepping up to 2100M, sixteen and a half lengths adrift of the victor, but it should be noted that he jumped awkwardly in that event and then did not quite see out the trip, this after racing just behind the leaders. He has a useful gate three and should do much better here, reverting to what appears to be a more suitable journey. As such, he is made the value bet on the day’s card.

SAVEADATEFORME has cracked pole position and has posted two solid last runs, the latest when second over today’s distance, just a half-length off the winner. He finished well from some way back in that event and with him having his peak run after returning from a 22-week absence, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

BUBA is a 7-year-old mare taking on males, but she is seldom far off the action, finishing third last time out over seven furlongs, just over two lengths back from the winner, but she had to be held up at the top of the home straight and only saw daylight at the 250M pole. She then finished strongly and whilst drawn wide in gate ten, she should turn in another honest performance today.

Race 6

MEMORIA is a 4-year-old filly bumping boys, but she has consistent formlines to her name and followed up her penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a second-place finish next time out over 1300M, 2.8L back from the winner. She was however hampered at the start that day, but recovered quickly to pick up the lead, only to be run out of it late. She jumps from draw six and will be having her first run after returning from a 21-week rest, but she has had two barrier trials, finishing third in the first and winning the latest to prove her well-being. She gets the services of a 3kg claiming apprentice and will be looking to chalk up her fourth career victory today.

TRISKELION sat just behind the pacesetters and had to be held up between the 300M and 150M mark before finishing powerfully to win by one and a half lengths first time out over 1100M. The colt would have come on further with that run under his belt and from one gate inside the former, he should be considered a big runner here.

SHAKO won his penultimate start over five furlongs and then finished fourth next time out over the same sprint trip, 2.8L behind the winner, when returning from a 28-week break. The gelding will have to deal with a wide gate ten, but he should be included in all bets.

Race 7

The day’s best bet, COCO DREAMING is a 4-year-old filly taking on males, but she has been a model of consistency, winning over five furlongs three runs back and finishing second in his next two starts over 1100M and five furlongs, the latest just a length behind the winner, when returning from an 18-week spell. She did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight that day, only seeing daylight at the 200M mark and then hanging out over the final 50M. She has a wideish draw eight, but the form of that last race has been franked.

NAVY BLOOD has consistent formlines to his credit, winning his penultimate start over five furlongs and then ending up in seventh spot next time out over the same sprint trip, 1.8L behind the winner when having his first start for his new trainer. The colt jumped awkwardly in that contest and had to be eased at the 50M mark, so he had his excuses. He will have ex-SA jockey Keagan Latham in the irons, so will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle and from a cosy draw three, he could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice.

RIVA D’AMOR is another 4-year-old filly in the race and put her disappointing penultimate start over five furlongs behind her when finishing second next time out over the same trip, just a head back from the winner. She raced three wide without cover that day but still managed to make good late progress over the closing stages. She is drawn one outside the latter and will have cheek pieces re-fitted. If this move has the desired effect, she should be a big runner here.
