Race 4.

Three 3yr old fillies could fight out the finish to this race and complete the trifecta, but the day’s best bet, ARBITRATION is taken to lead the field home. She has only had the five runs to date, chalking up a win and two second place finishes, the latest a victory over six furlongs by 1.2L, this despite jumping awkwardly, coming three wide into the home straight, being hampered at the 200M mark and finally, her jockey putting up 0.5kgs overweight. Even drawn the widest of them all in gate fifteen may not stop her picking up a quick double.

BRIGHT FLIGHT has won two of her last three runs, the latest a neck win over 1300M. She jumped awkwardly that day, but recovered quickly to take the lead and then battled all the way down to the wire to hold off the chasing pack. She is also drawn wide, one inside the top choice, but she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

MORIOKA followed up her penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a fifth place finish next time out over the same sprint trip, 5.3L behind from the winner. She has pulled gate eight and should be involved in the finish.

Race 5.

SNITZONFIRE jumped awkwardly, but still managed to race up with the leaders before striking the front at the top of the home straight. He stayed on well over the closing stages that day, suggesting that the step up to seven furlongs should not be an issue. The gelding attracted plenty of betting support that day and from draw eight and having his peak run after returning from a 22 week break, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

REDWOOD SHADOW had to be held up in the home straight, only seeing daylight at the 200M mark and was then hampered over the final 50M, to end up in third place last time out over 1300M, 1.8L back from the winner. He gets draw six and with better luck in running today, he should keep the top pick honest.

ROYAL BANQUET stayed on well to win his last start over 1250M by 0.8L. He is drawn one outside the latter and will have ex-SA jockey Keagan Latham in the irons, so will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

Race 6.

TRANSPLANT tried to go from gun to tape before being run out of it late to end up in second spot last time out over 1300M, 1.2L off the winner, but he was well clear of the balance of the field that day. She gets a useful draw five and could be the one that they all have to beat.

FLOWER MOON dictated the pace from the front to win her last start over seven furlongs by just over a length. She has won two of her last three outings and notwithstanding a wide gate nine, she could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice.

BELLE ESPOIR is drawn one inside the latter and won her penultimate run over seven furlongs and then finished eighth next time out over the same journey, 6.2L adrift of the victor. She will be hoping to bounce back to her better form today.

Race 7.

The day’s value bet, RONDINO followed up his penultimate run victory over a mile with a seventh place finish next time out over the same trip, 4.3L adrift of the winner, but he was slow away that day and became badly unbalanced at the 800M pole. He also did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight, only switching clear at the 250M mark, but nevertheless finishing well thereafter. He will have to negotiate draw ten, but he could find himself in the winner’s box after recording his fourth career victory.

LEASE was a tad disappointing when finishing eighth last time out over 1500M, 6.2L behind the winner. The colt raced up with the pace that day, but had nothing more to offer in the home stretch. He faces a wide gate fourteen out of fifteen, but he is a speedy sort who should be able to work his way across without using up too much energy. If he is able to find some of his better form here, he should be one of the leading contenders.

OCEAN SHORES on the other hand has cracked a cozy draw two. He was slow away last time out and then only secured a clear run at the 300M, before ending up in fifth place last time out over seven furlongs, five and a half lengths behind the winner. The gelding was returning from a 16 week break than day and has finished third in a subsequent barrier trial to boost his confidence.
