Race 4

ANAGAIN has consistent formlines to her name and stayed on well when ending up in third place last time out over six furlongs, just two lengths behind the winner. She has a handy draw three, has her peak run after returning from a 12-week rest and should turn in another honest performance today.
PRETTY WILD has cracked pole position and made good late progress when finishing seventh last time out over six furlongs, four lengths back from the victor, suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to her liking. She also has her peak run after returning from a 12-week break and will get 2kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.

LEANDRA had to be held up approaching the home turn, but struck the front at the 200M mark to win her maiden race last time out over 1300M by a length. She is drawn one outside the latter and has her peak run after returning from a longer 17 weeks and should be included in all bets.

Race 5

STEP ASIDE had his consistency rewarded with his maiden win last time out over seven furlongs, albeit by just a short head. He was returning from a 16-week break that day and produced a powerful finish over the closing stages to claim victory in the shadow of the post. The gelding takes on stronger here, but he jumps from a useful gate two and is made the best bet on the day’s card.

VINTAGE CHOICE was returning from a 33-week spell and a change of trainer when making good late progress to finish seventh in his latest outing over 1300M, just under two and a half lengths off the winner. He will have to overcome a wide draw 13, but he should be doing his best work late.

WINDSHADOW followed up his penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a sixth-place finish next time out over the same sprint trip, just a length back from the winner, but he raced three wide without cover that day and was returning from a 12-week rest. The gelding has a wideish draw eight, but on the plus side, he will get 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice and should be involved in the finish.

Race 6

The day’s value bet, ANYTHINK GOES had solid form prior to finishing a disappointing tenth in his penultimate run over 1500m, but put that behind him when winning by 0.8L last time out over a mile. He sat just behind the leaders that day, striking the front at the top of the home straight and then fought off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire. The gelding gets a cosy draw two and could prove hard to topple.

TOURISTIC was returning from a 16-week absence and raced three wide throughout when finishing second in his latest run over ten furlongs, but just a length behind the winner and the form of that race has been franked. He will have to deal with a wideish gate eight, but he should be right up there when they hit the line.

IMRAHOR has won two of his last three outings and went from jump to wire when winning his second start in Australia over 1300M by just under a half-length, when returning from a 50-week spell. His first run in his new home since arriving from the UK was in heavy going and he was returning from a 32-week break. He redeemed himself next time out and from a useful draw four and with him having 3kgs removed from his allocated weight thanks to his claiming apprentice, he should not be lightly dismissed. The fact that his connections have brought him back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to confirm their belief that he still has something more to offer them.

Race 7

INSURRECTION came three wide into the home stretch when finishing tenth last time out over six furlongs, five and a half lengths back from the victor, but he has won a subsequent barrier trial. He will have to deal with a wide gate nine, but he gets the services of a 3kg claiming apprentice and will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways.

WINGARDIUM is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she won her penultimate start over 1100M and then finished fifteenth next time out when stepping up to seven furlongs, 15.3L adrift of the winner, but she was reported to be lame in her off-fore that day, so that effort is best ignored. She returns from a 32-week break but has had the two barrier trials, winning the first and finishing second in the latest. She gets a kinder gate three and should do better returning to what appears to be a more suitable distance.
ABLE WILLIE lost a length at the start, but finished strongly to end up in second spot last time out over 1100M, just a half-length behind the winner. The gelding has pulled gate five and will be having his peak run after returning from a 22-week break.
