TOP BET FOR TODAY

Race 1: MAJOR ATTRACTION (7)

Jockey: Robert KHATHI – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

MAJOR ATTRACTION has finished second in her last two starts. She challenged strongly all the way to the winning post last time, but went down by just a head. The daughter of Vercingetorix will enjoy the extra furlong on offer this afternoon and should be hard to beat in this line-up.

Race 2: CAPTAIN’S FLO (1)
Jockey: Jannie BEKKER – Trainer: Piet BOTHA

CAPTAIN’S FLO ran a very good race when finishing second in her last start over six furlongs at Kenilworth. She showed plenty of speed that day but was outrun in the latter stages by what looks to be a top sort in the making. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The drop to the minimum trip should not pose a concern and she can go one better here.

Race 3: ROSEMARY MEADOW (2)
Jockey: Grant BEHR – Trainer: HWJ Crawford/M Rix

ROSEMARY MEADOW showed good improvement when finishing third in her last start over this distance at Kenilworth. She raced from a handy position that day and stayed on well at the business end. She is having her peak run this afternoon and should be cherry-ripe. From pole position, she may be the one to side with

Race 5: MIDNIGHT BADGER (1)
Jockey: Corne ORFFER – Trainer: Eric SANDS

Trainer Eric Sands holds a strong hand in this contest and he has a good chance of saddling the exacta. MIDNIGHT BADGER has finished runner-up in both his starts since winning his maiden race over this C&D. He moved up like a winner last time but found one too good in the form of Hurricane Harry who has won again since. He should be cherry-ripe for today’s race and may be the one they all have to beat.

VALUE BET FOR TODAY

Race 6: APOLLO ACE (3)
Jockey: Morne WINNAAR – Trainer: Candice Bass-Robinson
APOLLO ACE showed some signs of a form return in his last start over this distance at Kenilworth. He finished 2.45 lengths behind MISTER VARGUS that day and is 2.5kgs better off at the weights. That should be enough for the tables to be turned.
