Race 1: EUROPEAN ROLLER(4)
Jockey: A DOMEYER – Trainer: J SNAITH
EUROPEAN ROLLER had little go his way on his fair local debut over shorter on this surface last month but that formline was given a boost when the 3rd placed entrant Incredible Tune finished a good 2nd next time out. The Cape visitor would have come on from that effort and should prefer this extra furlong. She will get stiff competition from the Greeff inmate’s DONA and DOMREMY with a slight preference for the former who has produced two useful performances on this surface. The bay filly faces her own age group today after a decent last run over shorter on this track and the runner-up Mackerel Sky also gave that formline respectability when winning subsequently. Her stablemate is the mount of the stable jockey and she was expectedly thrashed by the top quality March Music (feature placed since) over a similar trip last time but the 4th placed finisher Just Call Me Angel boosted that form when beating older rivals in courageous fashion seven days ago.

Race 2: COUNTESS CANTABRIA(1)
Jockey: G YENI – Trainer: A SMITH
COUNTESS CANTABRIA quickly returned to form after an excusable flop and she is ideally c & d suited. Interestingly, she was accounted for by an improving Greeff trained sort last time so the conditioner of today’s likely favourite, CHINCHILLA will have a good line to work with. The latter disappointed in her second local start and first on the grass in this province but of course she caught the eye with a strong finish on local debut prior to that. The well-bred but injury plagued filly still has much room for improvement and should stake a serious claim on her peak showing.

Race 3: ALL NIGHT LONG(3)
Jockey: A DOMEYER – Trainer: J STRYDOM
ALL NIGHT LONG had a promising first run in this province over the minimum trip on this course and the former Cape visitor will obviously prefer this extra distance & further. Admittedly, he is a battling maiden but he faces a similar bunch and can stake a serious claim from the best draw.

Race 6: DAWNBREAKER(5)
Jockey: G CHEYNE – Trainer: A GREEFF
DAWNBREAKER is a form contender who loves racing on this surface and he should be highly competitive despite now racing on handicap terms. Of course he had BREAKFAST CLUB one length behind him over the mile in a feature in May and is only 0.5kg worse off. The latter is a polytrack specialist who didn’t disgrace himself on the grass lately and though the runner-up Story Of My Life flopped badly next time out, trainer Greeff’s charge should be a major factor today.

Race 7: SHADY WORLD
Jockey: T GOULD – Trainer: A GREEFF
SHADY WORLD has shown some encouraging signs in recent starts including an improved last effort in the PE Gold Cup and he drops significantly in class today. He had a fair performance from a wide draw behind QUID RIDES despite not striding out over this c & d three runs back and is weighted to heavily reduce the 3.60 lengths deficit. The latter had a totally excusable last performance when he refused to gallop on the grass but of course reeled off back-to-back c & d wins at this level prior to that.
