Race 5: AFRIKABURN(3)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 4: STRUBEN(2)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Alan GREEFF
This is another extremely competitive handicap but STRUBEN’s resurgence to form since being equipped with blinkers, gives him the edge. The Greeff inmate is a track specialist with a solid record over this distance. He didn’t beat much but the manner of victory was impressive over 1300m on this course, six weeks ago. That triumph earned the Visionaire gelding the maximum six-pound penalty but his excellent c & d win over a stronger field, three runs back suggests that he can follow-up here. The four-year-old gelding is well drawn at gate 3.

Race 5: SIR DUKE(1)

Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON – Trainer: Tara LAING

SIR DUKE is best in at the weights on official ratings and he should take all the beating, if he finds some of his better form. He probably suffered a setback as he was out of action for almost a year last season but his comeback run was encouraging. The veteran campaigner then clearly felt the effects of those exertions in his poor next outing but would have benefitted from the nine-week rest. The son of Trippi is unbeaten from three c & d efforts and he should go very close on his peak outing. He jumps from a good draw.

TOP BET

Race 6: A MILLION DREAMS(4)
Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

A MILLION DREAMS is best in on official ratings in this conditions plate over her preferred trip but she still needs to prove that she is effective on this surface. The former Gauteng resident faded badly in a strong field over six furlongs on this track recently but she now has her peak showing. She showed smart ability over this distance prior to that and could take some beating in this line-up.

Race 8: FLAMING ACE(2)

Jockey: Karl ZECHNER – Trainer: Dorrie SHAM
FLAMING ACE continues to be thereabouts on this track and he dips in class today. He stayed on for a decent 4th over this c & d six weeks ago and should feature prominently in this line-up, for his in-form yard.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:
Race 1: TRACK-KING(12)

Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE – Trainer: Justin SNAITH
TRACK-KING has recently joined the Justin Snaith yard and he makes his local debut. He is lightly raced and was considered good enough to take to KZN during the winter, by his previous conditioner. The son of Var had a fair debut effort in the province but disappointed in two subsequent runs in the ‘Mother City’. The betting market in all three occasions indicate that he is showing decent work back home and the bay gelding could make a big improvement if handling this surface. He jumps from a good draw and Fortune takes the ride.
