Magic Tips Best Bets
Race 1: MY BOY JACK(3)
Jockey: M Yeni – Trainer: G Smith
MY BOY JACK was unfancied on his fair debut over this trip on the grass last month and the runner-up Super Socks gave that formline some respectability when finishing 4th in the Listed Dahlia Plate last week. The Jackson colt would have come on with that experience and should make natural improvement. There are some well-bred first timers who should pose a threat and trainer Alan Greeff saddles the stable elect
FALCON ROCK and ALBRANDINO.
Race 2: DEAR MONIETTE(2)
Jockey: M Yeni – Trainer: G Smith
DEAR MONIETTE will strip fitter and should build on her fair local debut over an extra furlong on this track last Friday.
SEATTLE LILY isn’t the stable elect but she has shown enough to warrant obvious claims in this line-up and the bay filly is drawn best of all. She had an excusable recent performance in a workrider’s contest six days ago.
Race 3: COUNTESS CANTABRIA(1)
Jockey: M Yeni – Trainer: G Smith
COUNTESS CANTABRIA may have just needed her comeback outing a week ago and the former Cape resident should build on that promising 2nd today. She will be fitter and should maintain the half a length gap with the track specialist EESHARA. The latter has the widest barrier to overcome but represents an in- form yard and will have her supporters.
Race 5: BEATABOUTTHEBUSH(1)
Jockey: G Cheyne – Trainer: A Greeff
The classy four-year old filly
BEATABOUTTHEBUSH had two impressive recent victories on this surface and she is best-weighted to complete the hat-trick today. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight has an impressive burst of speed so she won’t be fazed by a sedate gallop in this small field.
VALUE BET
Race 7: CARBON OFFSET(4)
Jockey: K Minnie – Trainer: A Greeff
The former Cape resident CARBON OFFSET had an eye-catching local sprint debut on this surface early last month and he will prefer this step-up in distance. The bay gelding will be fitter and his wide draw isn’t a concern as he usually ends his races well.
