Magic Tips Best Bets
Race 2: JUAN TWO THREE(1)
Jockey: C Maujean– Trainer: Tara Laing
The well-bred son of Twice Over, SHALLCROSS has progressed smartly with each of his two local starts and he stayed on for 2nd over slightly shorter on the grass last month. He had the long-time maiden and new stablemate FUJIN nearly five lengths adrift of him in 3rd position and should have more to offer on his peak effort. Of course he does race on the polytrack for the first time. The same applies to the latter who usually goes well for this Cape based rider.
Race 3: BAKKIES(1)
Jockey: R Khathi – Trainer: Tara Laing
The entire’ PLANO continues to progress and there was plenty of merit in his seasonal debut effort though he did emerge victorious in the boardroom. He has some work to do at the weights here but still has more to offer and can complete the hat-trick.
TOP BET
Race 5: WHAT A PLAYER(7)
Jockey: M Thackeray – Trainer: D McKenzie
HORSE HAIZI made a mockery of her low merit rating as she produced a strong finish to easily beat a decent line-up that included GAME GIRL (0.5kg worse off) and KLEVER KATHY (3.5kgs worse off) over this c & d at novice level recently. She was expectedly hiked the maximum six pounds in her merit rating but the blinkers clearly had a positive impact on the Horse Chestnut who could still be ahead of the handicapper.
Race 7: SEARCHING(5)
Jockey: C MAUJEAN – Trainer: T LAING
The likely blistering tempo will suit the progressive three-year old EL CHEEPO who may have found the mile beyond reach a fortnight ago and he should bounce straight back to form today. The former Cape resident caught the eye when he ran on smartly to finish close-up over this c & d on his handicap debut at a similar level in his penultimate outing.

Race 1: JADEED(1)
Jockey: K Minnie – Trainer: J STRYDOM
The ex-Kimberley resident KANISHIWA caught the eye when she took off late to finish close-up over the minimum trip on this course a week ago and she should enjoy this extra distance. She has to unfortuna- tely contend with another poor draw but the daughter of Twice Over will strip fitter and must be considered.
