Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET

Race 2: PURELY ATOMIC(3)

Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE – Trainer: Alan GREEFF

The Alan Greeff yard holds a strong hand in this conditions plate and the ultra-consistent PURELY ATOMIC is a confident first choice to land that deserved fourth career victory. The imported four-year-old filly has produced excellent form since arriving in this province and she has finished runner-up in her last five consecutive outings, including back-to-back feature runs. She was 2nd best in that mile feature behind a Cape visitor last time but had her stable companion almost three lengths further adrift and should hold the latter safe despite facing that rival on 2kgs worse terms.

Race 3: WHINKING CASANOV(1)

Jockey: S’manga KHUMALO – Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

WHINKING CASANOVA
has solid recent form on this track and he was outrun late into a close 3rd over a mile, four weeks ago. The runner-up, NABUCCO did the form little favour when finishing unplaced next time out but that was on the polytrack and the top selection is better drawn today and could prefer this slight drop in distance.

Race 7: VAUCLAIR(4)

Jockey: Raymond DANILESON – Trainer: Tara LAING

The c & d specialist VAUCLAIR is in good touch and he was running on smartly over the minimum trip, three weeks ago. This extra furlong suits him extremely well and he should go close.

Race 8: FLY LIKE THE WIND(2)

Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON – Trainer: Renate DU PLESSIS

The three-year old FLY LIKE THE WIND is above-average and he was rewarded for consistency when he ran on well to win a graduation contest over this c & d in early December. He hasn’t raced for eight weeks since but would have strengthened and the well-related gelding has plenty of scope for improvement. He is well drawn and though he shoulders a big mass in this low-key handicap, he should still take all the beating.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 4: JENADOR’S WORLD(3)

Jockey: Karl ZECHNER – Trainer: Dorrie SHAM

The betting market suggests otherwise but this race isn’t straight forward and a form reversal could be on the cards. The Haizi’s Daisy c & d formline should dominate the outcome but the lesser fancied JENADOR’S WORLD could provide the upset. She has improved in both her comeback runs since arriving in this province and was making eye-catching late headway over this c & d, three weeks ago. She has 5.50 lengths to find with the runner-up ETERNAL WINTER and the pair meet on identical weight terms today, but this lightly raced daughter of Argonaut has her peak outing and she is expected to make serious improvement.
