TOP BET
Race 1: EX NIHILO(5)
Jockey: M Yeni– Trainer: G Smith
EX NIHILO expectedly proved to be no match for his quick stablemate Super Socks over this c & d recently but his in-form conditioner has cleverly equipped the bay colt with blinkers on his debut as a three-year old today. The Greeff newcomers should be closely watched in the betting exchanges with particular reference to the stable elect HARTLEYSIX who is by Eightfold Path.

EX NIHILO(5) |
Jockey: C MAUJEAN– Trainer: T LAING
The eight-year old EXELERO was deservedly rested for three months after his smart triumph over similar opposition on ‘Derby Day’. He is best weighted on his seasonal debut and holds strong claims of completing the hat-trick.

EXELERO(1) |
Race 4: FINLEY HILL(6)
Jockey: L MXOTHWA – Trainer: S KOTZEN
FINLEY HILL was desperately unlucky to end last campaign without a deserved triumph but of course the bay colt met the demoted Champion Juvenile Cup victor National Park in his last two efforts. He was close-up in 2nd behind the promising latter in those last two c & d efforts and would have strengthen- ed during his short absence.

FINLEY HILL(6) |
Race 5: MAKE IT COUNT(3)
Jockey: R MUNGER – Trainer: Y BREMNER
The injury plagued lightly raced four-year old MAKE IT COUNT did just that when he produced an eye-catching comeback run over the minimum distance following yet another layoff. He is only slightly out at the weights in this novice contest but will be fitter and should relish the extra furlong.

Race 6: NORTHERN BALLET(2)
Jockey: R KHATHI – Trainer: J SNAITH
Just sevent entrants contest this Non-Black type handicap over a mile and a half where the Snaith yard has travelled the defending champion NORTHERN BALLET. Admittedly, the bay mare is nowhere near the form she came into this event in a year ago but she clearly found the distance of her three comeback runs too sharp for her in the ‘Mother City’.
