Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Cheyne G – Trainer: Greeff A C

NEWCREST is lightly raced and he quickly put his disappointing penultimate run behind him when he went close over 1300m on this course, four weeks ago. He finished narrowly in front of MINNAROOM that day but has more scope for improvement and should relish the step-up to the mile. His wide draw is an obvious concern but his classy jockey is in good form and the pair could pull this off.

Race 2: REEVAS QUEEN(12)
Jockey: Fortune A – Trainer: Strydom J H

Top jockeys Greg Cheyne and Andrew Fortune could again dominate the outcome of this finish and the latter may reverse the likely result of the opening event. Fortune climbs aboard REEVAS QUEEN who has produced two decent efforts on this track. She made the expected improvement when she ran on well for 3rd over this c & d second time out despite having an awkward start. The daughter of Rebel King should continue to progress and merits healthy respect from a good draw.

Race 4: KUMIKO(1)
Jockey: Cheyne G – Trainer: Greeff A C

KUMIKO has campaigned with plenty of distinction in much stronger company and she deserves her second career win. The daughter of Silvano is c & d suited and she should take a power of beating on her third run back from a break. Hardly surprisingly, she is extremely well in on official ratings in this novice contest.

Jockey: Cheyne G – Trainer: Greeff A C

LOVE EVERLASTING was runner-up over this c & d on debut and she made the expected improvement to easily beat dual subsequent winner Blue Dawn on the grass, second time out. She would have strengthen- ed during her 14 week absence and has obvious scope for improvement. The Greeff inmate is well drawn on her seasonal debut and she merits healthy respect.

Jockey: Cheyne G – Trainer: Greeff A C

WINTER FANTASY was badly in need of her comeback run after a lengthy absence and she will strip fitter today. She showed plenty of class prior to that major setback and though she will need a few more runs to get back to her best, the daughter of Western Winter could make good improvement and finish much closer to her recent conqueror HOUSE OF LORRAINE.
