Race 1: SOUND CHECK (1)
Race 4: CHAI (10)
Race 7: NORTON SOUND (2)
Race 8: TORIO LAKE (1)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: SOUND CHECK (1)
Jockey: Cheyne G – Trainer: Greeff A

SOUND CHECK was ridden to perfection when winning the Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery, six weeks ago. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests she will love the extra furlong on offer. The daughter of Global View has shown that she has ability and should notch up the hat-trick.

Race 3: FOLLOW THE STAR (4)
Jockey: V.Niekerk G – Trainer: Kotzen G

FOLLOW THE STAR won a very good race in her last start over 2500m at Kenilworth against the males. She won her only attempt on this course, three runs ago. Grant van Niekerk takes the ride this afternoon and she can notch up her fourth career victory.

Race 6: GLOBAL DRUMMER (2)
Jockey: Hewitson L – Trainer: Smith G

GLOBAL DRUMMER has top consistent form lines to his credit. He set the pace last time and despite casting a shoe in running, he won with a ton in hand. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He has won twice and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. The son of Global View is classy and should take a power of beating.

Race 7: SILVER SALMON (3)
Jockey: V.Niekerk G – Trainer: Kotzen G

SILVER SALMON was ultra-impressive when winning his last start over 1000m at Durbanville. He showed good speed that day and was geared down in the closing stages. The son of Soft Falling Rain makes his way to the Eastern Cape and if all went well with his travels, he should be the one to beat.

Jockeys Ride Horses

Race 8: TORIO LAKE (1)
Jockey: Maujean C – Trainer: McKenzie D

TORIO LAKE was doing his best work late in the first leg of the East Cape Poly Challenge last time. He finished 3 lengths behind EVIES FIRST in his penultimate start. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line. Chase Maujean does duty and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
