Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 2: KISS ME HARDY(1)

Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE – Trainer: Corne SPIES

The Corne’ Spies stable holds a very strong hand in this pinnacle stakes event and the top weight KISS ME HARDY looks set to keep his 100% track record, intact. He made a huge return to form when he ran on for 4th on the Vaal sand on Supreme Cup day under Fortune recently, despite a very hefty mass. The Captain Al gelding has won two previous efforts on this track, one of which came over this distance. He now has his peak run and is by some distance best in on official ratings. Fortune retains the ride on the grey gelding who will take a power of beating.

Race 3: SEVEN KINGS(3)
Jockey: Muzi YENI – Trainer: Clinton BINDA

SEVEN KINGS handles his racing well and he would need to, as he raced on the Vaal turf track, a mere six days ago. The Clinton Binda inmate tired badly after setting the pace that day but he has taken really well to this track and can bounce back to form today. The Dynasty gelding has finished runner-up in both his runs on this surface, the second of which was over this distance. It is interes- ting that he is effective with different tactics and Muzi Yeni will probably settle him just off the early pace in a likely fast run affair. His pole barrier position is a great help.

Race 5: SONG JET(3)
Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE – Trainer: Tienie PRINSLOOSONG JET is holding his form and he runs particularly well for veteran jockey Fortune. The five-year old gelding is effective when adopting different tactics and he was perhaps unlucky not to have gone closer in his only c & d attempt. The Tienie Prinsloo inmate jumps from pole position once more and he can achieve that deserved first local victory.

Race 6: EVERCELL(4)

Jockey: Muzi YENI – Trainer: Phillip SMITH

EVERCELL has been a revelation since relocating to the Northern Cape and he continues to produce ultra consistent form. He was again runner-up last time but was reportedly not striding out and the short three-week break would have helped him. The four-year old chestnut gelding is well handicapped now and can go one better in this class. His regular pilot Muzi Yeni retains the ride.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 9: COOL KID(2)
Jockey: Francois HERHOLDT – Trainer: Barend BOTES

COOL KID finally returns to his happy hunting ground where he achieved his only two career victories on. He has suffered a few setbacks since but did show a little in stronger company on the Highveld and this does seem to be his best distance. The well-bred son of Horse Chestnut is unbeaten from two c & d runs and he clearly has the class at this level to pull this off, despite his wide barrier position. Having said that, he does take on a competitive line-up.
