Winning Form Best Bets

Race 1: MATRESSE(1)
Race 2: MEDIA CIRCUS(6)
Race 4: DAWN CALLING(7)
Race 8: ROY IS SECOND(3)

Magic Tips Best Bets
TOP BET
Race 1: MATRESSE(1)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Charles LAIRD

MATRESSE may have some niggles but the former Gauteng resident made a bright local debut over a similar trip on this surface last Friday night. The chestnut filly was returning from a 21-week rest but ran on strongly for 2nd on a rain-affected track. She has obviously taken that run well and will be fitter this evening. The daughter of Silvano should have lots more to offer and she could take some beating here.

Race 5: NOODLE(5)

Jockey: Anton MARCUS
– Trainer: Tony RIVALLAND

NOODLE bounced back to form when running on steadily for 3rd behind subsequent winner Miss Minver over this c & d, four weeks ago. She escaped without a penalty despite coming from a wide draw that day and can build on that progress. The daughter of Var is unbeaten with Anton Marcus in the saddle and she rates a big threat on her peak showing, from the best draw.

Race 6: BAGGER VANCE(3)

Jockey: Brandon LERENA
– Trainer: Gareth VAN ZYL

As mentioned in earlier events, tonight’s rain affected track could heavily favour those runners who race handy and the grey gelding BAGGER VANCE is one of them. The four-year-old has some fair recent form and is certainly better than his polytrack record indicates. He stayed on for 4th behind his former stablemate Tipo Tinto over this c & d recently and top jockey Brandon Lerena retains the ride. The pair jump from a midfield draw.

Race 8: ROY IS SECOND(3)

Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Alyson WRIGHT

ROY IS SECOND is above-average and although she had a fair first run on this surface earlier this campaign, the daughter of Horse Chestnut was rested, quite possibly as her conditioner expected more from the three-year-old. She would have strengthened further and one can’t help but notice her smart 2nd behind subsequent Grade 3 winner She’s A Giver. Top jockey Delpech retains the ride on the Alyson Wright trained filly and the pair could go close tonight.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 3: FASHION DANCER(5)

Jockey: Marco VAN RENSBURG – Trainer: Weiho MARWING

This is a tricky low-key handicap and once again the track may favour those runners who are up with the pace. FASHION DANCER clearly prefers further but he continues to drop in the merit ratings and in class. His jockey usually gets his mounts racing handy and the four-year-old gelding could prove to be competitive in this field.
