Winning Form Best Bets

Race 1: ICHKERIA(1)
Race 2: ROY’S AMAZING ASH(3)
Race 4: ALDRIC(3)
Race 9: MR O’NEILL(6)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: ICHKERIA(1)
Jockey: Brandon LERENA – Trainer: Craig EUDEY

ICHKERIA had an excuse for her below-par last effort over this c & d and she is certainly capable of better. She was returning from a short break so could have just needed the effort. The daughter of Bankable has produced her career-best outing over this track & trip and she will be fitter tonight. It is encouraging that Brandon Lerena retains the ride on the four-year-old filly who can bounce back to form in this weaker field.

Race 3: ROY’S RAKARA(8)

Jockey: Marco VAN RENSBURG – Trainer: Kumaran NAIDOO

This is a wide open fillies and mares handicap which should yield a close finish. The value could lie with the four-year-old filly ROY’S RAKARA from the Kom Naidoo yard. This daughter of Horse Chestnut has recorded both her career wins on this surface, the latest of which came over this track & trip at a similar level, three starts ago. She clearly seems to have improved since being fitted with blinkers and the chestnut stayed on well for a close 4th, under a big mass, against male rivals, three weeks ago. Interestingly, she wasn’t penalized for the commendable effort and could take full advantage of the handicapper’s generosity. Of course, she now faces her own sex.

Race 4: MR MCSTEAMY(9)
Jockey: Callan MURRAY – Trainer: Garth PULLER

MR MCSTEAMY had an improved last run in soft conditions on the grass despite having a preference for this surface. He was docked three pounds in his merit rating for that showing and he went close behind ILANGA (1kg worse off) over this c & d, three runs back. His yard had two winners at last Friday’s meeting and this son of King’s Chapel could continue that form. The latter is held on his two dreadful subsequent performances.

TOP BET
Race 7: GREATFIVEEIGHT(7)

Jockey: Morne WINNAAR – Trainer: Sean TARRY

GREATFIVEEIGHT reached a competitive merit rating and the change of scenery helped his cause in a much-improved effort, on his local debut, two weeks ago. The well-related Kahal gelding stayed on for a decent 4th in a competitive line-up over nine furlongs and clearly escaped with just a solitary pound penalty. The inmate from the Sean Tarry yard should build on that progress and he holds very strong claims in this much weaker company. The four-year-old gelding jumps from a good draw.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 6: MACKDESI(1)

Jockey: Calvin NGCOBO – Trainer: Colin SCOTT

MACKDESI is a track specialist who has lost his way in recent outings but he has been facing much stronger rivals and continues to steadily drop in the merit ratings. It is worth noting that tonight’s 1.5kgs claiming apprentice jockey has won three times on the five-year-old chestnut gelding who should go close if finding his best form.
