Race 2: DON’T LOOK BACK(10)
Jockey: W Kennedy– Trainer: W Van Zyl
DON’T LOOK BACK hit his top stride late in his much improved second showing over a mile in the capital last month and his pedigree indicates that the blinkered son of Judpot will relish this test of stamina. Of course the runner-up of his last start White Lightning boosted the formline with a subsequent triumph.

Race 3: STARLIGHT(12)
Jockey: S Veale – Trainer: D Howells
Jockey: S Veale – Trainer: D Howells
STARLIGHT was quietly fancied when she got going late to finish close-up in a competitive line-up over six furlongs on this course on debut in July and the daughter of Stagelight would have strengthened during the absence. The 3rd placed entrant Star In The Sky took a further two starts before she romped to an effortless six length triumph and the Howells (only runner on the night) inmate should relish the step-up to the mile.

Race 4: STATUTE(3)
Jockey: B Lerena – Trainer: M Roberts
This is a most intriguing graduation contest over the mile where just seven entrants head to post. The narrow first selection goes to the best-weighted runner, the four-year old STATUTE from the Roberts yard. This full-sister to former ‘July’ winner Legislate has achieved her high merit rating over sprints but she should easily cope with the mile.

Race 6: CALL ME WINTER(7)
Jockey: A Arries – Trainer: M Miller
The game frontrunner CALL ME WINTER had things her own way in a small field over this c & d recently and she can follow up in a similar contest after perhaps escaping with just the minimum two pound penalty. She is weighted to easily get the better of arch-rival and top weight CHAMPENOIS who rather interestingly, tries blinkers for the first time tonight.

Race 5: PETER PIPER(9)
Jockey: K Sakayi – Trainer: D Bosch
Race 5: PETER PIPER(9)
Jockey: K Sakayi – Trainer: D Bosch
The Bosch yard holds a decent hand in this competitive low-key handicap where the veteran campaigner PETER PIPER gets the nod. The eight-year old has been thereabouts for a while now and though he has nearly three lengths to find with his stable companion ELUSIVE WOLF on their last clash over the mile, he is 1.5kgs better off and has a good draw.
