ETERNAL ICE had excuses for his moderate last showing against winners at handicap level over this c & d last Friday but is way better than that. He would have benefitted from that first polytrack experience and now drops to maiden company in his peak run. The son of Western Winter is well drawn once more and Marcus has ridden him previously. The pair should be really competitive in this field.

Race 3: AFICIONADO(8)
AFICIONADO drifted in the betting market but still produced an eye-catching c & d debut, three weeks ago. He was understandably green but stayed on strongly for 3rd in a highly competitive event and should make natural improvement. The Visionaire gelding meets a weak line-up and will take a power of beating.
Race 6: LADY AMI(2)
LADY AMI loves this surface and she quickly got back to form with a decent last run in a similar field. The drop to the mile should suit her, particularly as she is well drawn at gate 2 and now gets the services of Anton Marcus. The daughter of Daylami deserves her second career win.

The eight-year old gelding KOLKATA was a top stayer on his day but has unfortunately lost his spark. However, he has campaigned in considerably stronger fields and wasn’t disgraced in the Gold Cup at the start of this season. The Tarry inmate takes a huge drop in class on his polytrack debut and he could cause an upset, if taking to this surface.
