Race 1: IMBALI(9)
Jockey: Keagan DE MELO – Trainer: Pat LUNN
IMBALI has found solid betting support in both her starts suggesting that she is showing smart work back home. She had a fair debut on the grass and then made the expected improvement when staying on well for a close 2nd over this c & d, second time out. The daughter of Kahal should build on that progress and she has strong claims from a handy draw.
Race 2: PAMPAS(11)
Jockey: Brandon LERENA – Trainer: Michael ROBERTS
The lightly raced pairing of PAMPAS and AFTER MIDNIGHT could fight things out in this mile contest. The former is an expensive son of Silvano who made smart improvement on his polytrack debut over six furlongs, second time out. He attracted solid betting support that day and finished strongly for a close 4th, beaten just under half a length. The mile should be right up his alley and he deserves plenty of respect.
Race 5: TRINI’S COLATERA(1)
Jockey: Muzi YENI – Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS
The three-year-old TRINI’S COLATERAL is above-average but she appeared in need of her comeback run in a feature over this c & d at the turn of the year. She will be much fitter today and had useful form, including an impressive victory over a smart field at handicap level in her penultimate run. She has cracked the best draw in this lesser class and should go close despite conceding chunks of weight all around.
Race 7: PRINCESS VARUNYA(2)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Kumaran NAIDOO
PRINCESS VARUNYA has improved rapidly since going over ground and she completed an impressive hat-trick of wins, culminating with a c & d victory in December. The daughter of High Chaparral was handed a seven-pound penalty but she still has plenty more to offer. She should handle this rise in distance and could take a power of beating with her manageable weight.
