Race 5
This looks to be a tricky event to open up the Jackpot and some caution is suggested. TOM’S KNIGHT seemed to relish stepping up in trip from his two prior runs over a mile when victorious in his last outing over twelve furlongs. He won by one and a half length that day when going from jump to wire. He starts from a handy draw of four and could be the one to side with here. ARABOLINI drew clear to put 3.3L between himself and the balance of the field when winning last time out over ten furlongs. He should have no problem going the extra ground as he won over this trip three runs back. CHOSEN PRINCE renews his rivalry with the latter today. He finished second in the race mentioned above, but he is 3kgs better off at the weights here for that 3.3L beating. That should bring them closer together, but ARABOLINI gets the nod as he drew clear of the field that day and may well confirm that result today. TAVION PRINCE steps up in distance after finishing third in his last two starts over a mile. He made good late progress in the latest outing suggesting that he should enjoy the extra ground on offer here.
Race 6
With the late scratchings of two of his main rivals, the way may have been cleared for SHAME WARNED to ring up his third career victory. He finished well to win his last start over this distance and is now drawn in gate nine. He looks good enough to complete his double and is taken to be the best bet on today’s card. STRATACHEVA is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys, but she made good late progress to win her last outing over seven furlongs by just under a length. She starts from gate eleven, but should be doing her best work over the closing stages of the race. HIGH COURT on the other hand, has cracked pole position. He has put in two solid runs oner the mile and should give another honest performance today.
Race 7
SCHAPPOSE showed marked improvement when ending up 1.4L behind the winner last time out over seven furlongs. He was only run out of it very late that day and a reproduction of that effort would see him in the winner’s box. He starts from gate five and will have 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice. STRAIGHT HOME stayed on well when finishing third in his last outing over a mile, 1.2L off the winner. He has a wideish eight draw, but he could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice. DANSPUR’S last two runs over this trip have been encouraging, the latest when 1.6L behind the victor. He does have an even wider draw of ten to negotiate, but nevertheless, he should still be involved in the finish today.
Race 8
HENSCHEL returns from a 19 week rest and has not had the benefit of a barrier trial, but he missed out on his hat-trick last time out when fifth over six furlongs, 1.7L off the winner. He was severely hampered in the early stages of that race and did well to recover to finish as close to the winner as he did. He jumps from a handy gate three and will be hoping to return to winning ways today. SKARA BRAE is a 5yr old mare taking on males and is drawn one inside the former. She finished sixth last time out over 1100M in heavy going, but now reverts to the shorter five furlongs over which trip she finished just 0.4L behind the winner in her penultimate start. AREYA TUCHUZY followed up his penultimate run victory over this c&d with a third place finish next time out over the same c&d. He looked a likely winner close to home that day and should be included in all bets.

Race 4
RHYME TIME showed good improvement when winning her maiden race last time out over six furlongs when returning from a 16 week rest. She hit the front at the 150M mark and then held off all late challengers to win by a half length. She has pulled pole position and looks to be the one to side with here. VIVID FORTRESS returns from a 16 week rest, but won her barrier trial to prove her well-being. She did win her penultimate outing over this distance and could prove to be the biggest danger to the top choice. I’M KATE drops back in trip after two runs over 1500M and may do better as a result. LADY BRAHMOS won her penultimate outing over five furlongs when returning from a 23 week break and then finished seventh over six furlongs in her next run, 4.9L back. She has her peak run today and has a handy draw of gate two. She should not be overlooked in this line-up.
Race 5
SERTIN has his hat-trick attempt here after winning by a head in his last outing over five furlongs. He jumped awkwardly that day, but recovered well to finish strongly and win in the shadow of the post. He gets to go from gate four and is taken to be the best bet on today’s program. BEWARE has consistent formlines to his name and finished second in his last start over five furlongs, despite shifting about in the latter stages of the race. His gate two is a plus. SOMEBODY’S GIRL is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she won her penultimate outing over five furlongs and then finished second in her next run over the same trip, a head back from the victor. She is drawn between the top two selections and should give a good account of herself here.
Race 6
DELECTOR is a 4yr old filly taking on males. She won her penultimate start over seven furlongs and then finished a creditable fourth next time out over a mile, after having to be steadied at the 250M mark. She is drawn in gate seven, but will have ex-SA jockey Robbie Fradd in the irons, so will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle. MR STORM showed some improvement when ending up in sixth place last time out over seven furlongs, 2.7L behind the winner. He took a bump at the 250M mark that day and should have finished closer to the winner than he eventually did. OKANAGAN MISS is a 6yr old mare who has pulled pole position. She finished fifth in her latest outing over six furlongs and takes the step up in trip here, but she will have 2kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice to aid her cause.
Race 7
BIG JAKE won by 0.8L on debut over five furlongs. He showed plenty of toe and then dug down deep to hold off all challengers in the dash down to the line. With the late scratchings in the race, he now comes into gate nine. He would no doubt have come on with the run under his belt and could be good enough to follow up here. KINGSCOTE had shown steady improvement in his prior races before winning his maiden event in his last start over five furlongs. He put three lengths between himself and the opposition that day and looks to be the immediate threat to the top pick, jumping from a kinder two draw. UBETWEDO has his first run since a 13 week break and has not had a barrier trial, so his fitness will have to be taken on trust. He did not seem to quite go on with his effort when finishing fifth in his last outing over seven furlongs and seem certain to appreciate the drop in distance of today’s contest.

Race 5
Only seven runners go to the post here, but finding the winner is no easy task. OUR WIND SPIRIT missed out on his hat-trick when well below his best in finishing 5.6L off the winner over six furlongs, this after having won this penultimate outing over this trip and over five furlongs in the run prior to that. He was however reported to be lame after that poor effort and that run is probably best ignored. He gets to jump from a handy two draw and will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways today. WELL SPRUNG is an 8yr old who does not appear to have lots his zest for competing. He stayed on well when finishing third last time out over this c&d, 2.2L behind the winner. He has drawn gate seven and should give a good account of himself once again. BLOOD OATH returns from a lengthy 41 week break from the race track, but has not had a barrier trial, so his fitness will have to be taken on trust. He drops back to sprinting after two runs over seven furlongs before the rest and may well be betters suited to the trip.
Race 6
MAJOR GOWEN was disappointing in his last start when finishing 8.8L behind the winner over 1300M, but he was returning from a lengthy 61 week break that day. He has only had the three runs to date and did win over the c&d at the second time of asking. He has cracked pole position and if putting that last effort behind him, he may prove good enough to win against this field. HONORABLE SPIRIT never quite went on with his effort last time out before finishing fourth over 1500M, 3.8L behind the victor. From his gate five, he should be involved in the finish today. SPANISH SNITZEL won his maiden race in his last outing over six furlongs on this surface. He is lightly raced, having only had the four starts to date, so although taking on stronger here, he could well be up to the task on hand.
Race 7
SENSITIVITY is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys. She was disappointing when missing out on her hat-trick in her last start over 1550M in soft going. She now returns to the synthetic surface where she had recorded her two prior victories, with the latest being over this c&d where she won going away from the opposition. She has pulled pole position and is made the best bet on the day’s program. NANGAWOOKA is drawn one outside the former and showed marked improvement when finishing second in his last start over a mile, just a head behind the winner. He battled all the way down to the line that day and could turn out to be the biggest threat to the top choice. GREGORIAN CHANT is a 5yr old mare who showed good improvement when ending up in third place last time out over a mile. She gets a set of blinkers fitted for the first time today and if these have the desired effect, she could be a factor here.
Race 8
This looks a trick race to end the day’s Jackpot with plenty of the runners having realistic chances of taking top honors. The tentative top pick goes to MR MISCHIEF who whilst finishing sixth in his last outing over twelve furlongs, was just three lengths behind the winner. He was making good late progress in that run and did finish second over the c&d in his penultimate outing. His gate three is a plus. PEACE BROTHER dropped his jockey in his last outing, but finished fourth over eleven furlongs in the run prior to that. He is drawn in gate ten, but should be right up there in the mix. JEPARIT showed plenty of determination when winning his latest start over ten furlongs. If showing the same courage here, he should be included in all bets. MASERARTIE BAY takes a big step up in distance after two reasonable efforts over a mile. The blinkers are removed for today’s run and if taking to the extra ground on offer here, he should be afforded the utmost respect.
