Race 2
KYPREOS has cracked pole position and stayed on well last time out when under two lengths behind the winner over six furlongs. That was the geldings first run since a 36-week break and on that effort, he should appreciate the extra ground on offer today. As such, he is taken to be the best bet on today’s card. HAVEN ROAD is drawn alongside the top pick and was well supported in the betting markets last time out when finishing second over this c&d. He looks the immediate danger to the former. SHOWS PRIDE has his peak run here and although fourth last time out over six furlongs, he was only a half-length behind the victor.
Race 4
HUBBLE returns from a 14-week rest but put in a solid effort in his one barrier trial. He shifted around in the closing stages of his last start over seven furlongs and should have finished closer to the winner as a result. He has a wide draw of twelve to negotiate, but he is likely to be doing his best work late. VENUSIAN has his first run since a longer 16-week break and is drawn even wider out at gate fourteen. He has not had the benefit of a barrier trial but was a gun to tape winner when breaking his maiden last time out, so the wide draw may not be a major factor. CRACKAVIEW on the other hand has a kind draw of two. She is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys, but she has her peak run today and the blinkers are removed. If this move has the desired effect, she should be involved in the finish.
Race 5
BUGALUGS was a start to finish winner of his last outing over six furlongs, despite taking a bump down at the start. He put nearly five lengths between himself and the balance of the field that day and from draw four, he looks to be the one to be with here. VIKING RAID attracted plenty of betting support last time out when finishing fourth over this distance. He is drawn eleven out of thirteen, but nevertheless, he should be right up there when they hit the line. DELAYED RESPONSE is a 4yr old filly taking on males. She won her last outing over 1900M but was immediately rested for 14 weeks. She returns here after having had the one barrier trial and if not finding the distance too sharp, she should be included in all bets.
Race 6
JAZZLAND didn’t appreciate the heavy going he encountered last time out when returning from a 25-week break and that effort is best ignored. He won over this distance three runs back and is taken to be the value in the race. CASINO MONDIAL stayed on well in his last start when third over this trip. He has a wideish draw of nine, but he should be respected in this line-up. COGLIERE did not seem to stay the ten furlongs of his latest run, but a repeat of his penultimate effort over this distance would make him a big runner here, despite having pulled draw fourteen.
Race 7
HEZA MAGIC MAN won last time out over 1720M when friendless in the betting market. He kept going well to hold off all challengers in the closing stages and could complete his double here. EERISED gets the blinkers back on after a disappointing last start over this trip. If these make him concentrate on the task on hand, he should be respected today. LADY WAHOO is a 5yr old mare taking on boys, but she drops back to the mile after finishing fourth last time out over 1720M and should do better as a result. She did win over 1605m in her penultimate outing to support that fact. REAL GENT jumps from pole position and stayed on in his latest run over seven furlongs, suggesting that the extra distance will be to his liking.
