Race 5.
BERMADEZ was a jump to wire winner on debut over six furlongs, putting over five lengths between himself and the opposition that day. He steps up in distance here, but the manner in which he stayed on in that last victory would suggest that this is well within his grasp. He is sure to put his pole position to good use. ANIRISHMAN on the other hand has gate ten to negotiate. He returns after a 38 week break and has not had the benefit of a barrier trial. He was however also a winning first time out, but over this distance. He hit the front going through the 300M and kept going well to score by just over a length. He looks to be the immediate danger to the top choice. STRADARI ran on well to win by a head over six furlongs on debut. He gets to jump from gate three and should be involved in the finish here.

Race 6.
CATEGORY FIVE has won three on the bounce, the latest by a neck over this trip. He set the pace that day and fought off the chasing pack over the closing stages well. Although drawn wide at gate ten, he is likely to adopt similar tactics here and he will have 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice to aid his cause. He is taken to be the best bet on today’s program. FRANKLY HARVEY followed up his penultimate run victory over seven furlongs with a second place finish over the same distance next time out, only being beaten a head. He was making good late progress in that contest and should have no issue with stepping up in trip. BACCHUS has shown steady improvement in his last three runs and only failed by just under a length when finishing second over a mile last time out.

Race 7.
MOZZIE MONSTER hit the front at the 200M mark and drew away from the balance of the field to win by three and a half lengths on debut over six furlongs. She steps up in distance today and has a wideish draw of nine to negotiate, but she nevertheless still looks to be the one to side with here. SCIENTIFIC also won her first start over six furlongs, but by just under a length. She is drawn out at gate twelve, but she is likely to use her early gate speed to move across without using up too much energy. ZOUPINO has posted two solid efforts over 1100M at this venue, the latest when just over two lengths back. She stayed on well that day and should have no problem going the extra distance of today’s contest. She has a handy draw four and will have 3kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice.

Race 8.
SHOTMAKER has shown marked improvement in his last two runs and was only beat in the shadow of the post last time out over 1300M. He attracted plenty of betting support that day and whilst drawn in gate eleven, he looks to be the value in the race. CHAILLOT is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys and returns from a lengthy 70 week absence from the race track. She has not had a barrier trial so her fitness will have to be taken on trust, but she goes for her hat-trick here after winning her first two outings over six and seven furlongs respectively. The fact that her connections have brought her back into racing suggests that they feel that she has more to offer. LADY OF FLANDERS is a 6yr old mare who tried to make every post a winning post before being overhauled close to home to finish third, 1.3L behind the winner over this c&d. From her handy gate two, she should be included in all bets.

Race 5.
With the two late scratchings in the race, only seven runners face the starter here. SAYL followed up his penultimate run victory over this distance with a third place finish over the same trip, just a neck behind the winner. He was making good late progress that day and could be the one to side with here. Although GOLLY HUTT finished ninth in his last start over 1300M, he was just 2.4L off the victor. He stayed on well that day suggesting that the step up in trip will be to his liking. He will also get 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice. LACEY LYNX PACK is a 6yr old mare taking on the boys. She missed out on her hat-trick when disappointing last time out over 1300M when returning from a lengthy 76 week break. She won over this distance three runs back and seems more suited to this mile journey.

Race 6.
LOUD NOISE has finished second in his last two runs, the latest when ending up only a head back over 1300M. He has a handy gate four and will be partnered by ex-SA jockey Sean Cormack, so will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle. In addition, a set of blinkers are fitted for the first time and if these have the desired effect, he should be hard to topple here. GOLDEN MISSILE on the other hand will have the blinkers removed for the first time and has her first run for her new trainer. She is a 5yr old mare taking on males, but if fully settled into her new surroundings, she could threaten the top choice. She is drawn in gate seven and did finish a head second in her penultimate outing over this distance. GREYT INTENTIONS is a long-time maiden, but he has finished second in his last two runs, the latest over 1300M, one and a half lengths back from the winner. He has a wide gate eleven to negotiate, but he could finally get it right today.

Race 7.
This looks to be a tricky contest and some caution is suggested. TOP ME UP AGAIN is seldom far off the action and stayed on well to finish third last time out over a mile, just over a length and a half behind the winner. He has cracked pole position and should be right up there when they hit the line. SUILVEN had his consistency rewarded with a victory in his last outing over 1300M. He drew clear the closing stages and could emerge as the biggest danger to the top pick, jumping from his gate six. JINX ‘N’ DRINX is a 6yr old mare taking on boys, but although finishing sixth in her last start, she was just one length back from the victor. She has a handy draw two and should be involved in the finish today. TOOMAI is a 4yr old filly who only got going at the 200M mark to mow down the field to win her last start over this seven furlong journey. She jumps from draw five and should be included in all bets.

Race 8.
IMA TEAMBOY could give ex-SA jockey Sean Cormack a quick double here. He has consistent formlines to his credit and won his last start over this five furlong trip by 1.3L. He finished strongly that day and from gate five he should turn in another honest performance here. SERTIN is a speedy sort who won his last outing over five furlongs, by half a length. He has an even better draw of gate three and will have his chances aided by having 3kgs taken off his back courtesy of his claiming apprentice. LEADERSHIP SPILL returns from an 18 week rest, but did finish second in his only barrier trial to showcase his well-being. He is another speedy sort who should enjoy the drop in distance after finishing sixth last time out over 1100M.

Race 4.
HOME GROUND has recorded two solid last runs, finishing third in his latest start over this trip, just over a half length behind the winner. He just couldn’t hold off the late challengers that day and will be hoping to make amends here. He jumps from a handy draw four and will get 4kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice. WILD SHEILA is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys. She has consistent staying form to her name and won her last outing over 2300M by two lengths. She only found the gap very late that day which makes the victory that much more encouraging. From gate six, she could be the biggest danger to the top choice. APEROL SPRINT is a 4yr old filly who is drawn one outside the latter and who drops in distance after finishing second in her last start over 2900M, one length off the victor. She did however finish second over 2500M three runs back and should not be troubled by the shorter journey here.

Race 5.
SILENT AGENDA has consistent formlines to his credit and has finished third in his last two outings. He overraced before ending up a neck behind the winner last time out over a mile and if settling better today, he could be the one to be with here. He is made the value bet on today’s card. MIYAKE returns from a 19 week rest and did finish third in his only barrier trial. He showed marked improvement when winning his last start over 1900M before the break and if he can reproduce that effort over today’s mile trip, he could threaten the top pick, jumping from gate three. EMANUELA is a 5yr old mare taking on males. She on the other hand steps up in distance after finishing fourth in her last start over 1300M. She has her second run after a 12 week rest and if not in need of one more outing, she should be involved in the finish here. Her draw two will do her no harm.

Race 6.
NERONE has his first run after a 21 week break, but has finished second and third in his two barrier trials to showcase his well-being. He won his last outing over 1300M by a head and jumping away from pole position, he should be right up there in the firing line. MILITARY ACADEMY is seldom far off the action and recorded a second place finish in his last outing over 1300M, 1.3L behind the victor. He had to be checked at the 600M mark that day, but recovered well to be doing his best work late. He has to deal with a wideish draw eight, but should not be lightly dismissed in this line-up. HAY BALE goes for his hat-trick today after winning his last start over seven furlongs by half a length. He showed plenty of determination in that victory and should keep the top two selection honest, despite being draw one outside the latter.

Race 7.
TWICE AS SPECIAL has her hat-trick run here after winning her last race over 1100M by half a length, despite being hampered at the 350M mark. She steps up in distance here, but won her penultimate outing over this c&d, so this should not be an issue. She has gate three and could be the one to be with here. HIGH LOW BET was bumped down at the start, but nevertheless showed good improvement to finish third last time out over seven furlongs. She will have to overcome gate nine, but on that last effort, she should be right up there in the dash down to the wire. CROSSCHECK won her maiden race last time out over 1300M by two lengths. She takes on stronger and has a wide draw of eleven, but she should use her early gate speed to move across without using up too much energy.
