Top Bet
Race 1: LOADSHEDDER(12)

Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER – Trainer: Willem A NEL

LOADSHEDDER
had two useful attempts over this trip in the province and he has plenty more to offer. He was comfortably beaten into 3rd in a strong contest second time out but the runner-up Mount Keith won his maiden easily next time out and that certainly boosts the formline. This bay gelding should continue to progress and he could take some beating in this field.

Race 2: ICY FIRE(6)

Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD

Just seven entrants head to post for this competitive conditions plate where the Harlem Shake c & d formline on 23/07 could be worth following. The top selection ICY FIRE ran on well for 2nd in that listed feature that day and she followed up that performance with a game win over the mile in her comeback run, three weeks ago. The daughter of Western Winter will strip fitter and the likely sedate gallop should suit her well. She can follow-up.

Race 3: VERDIER(7)
Jockey: Richard FOURIE – Trainer: Adam MARCUS

VERDIER
attracted betting support in both his runs to date and he made the expected improvement when running on well for 4th in a competitive line-up over seven furlongs second time out. The bay colt was returning from a 12-week absence so should be fitter now and he has lots of room for progress. The mile won’t be an issue for the son of Var.

Race 5: MISS MARKER(6)

Jockey: MJ BYLEVELD – Trainer: Candice BASS-ROBINSON

The first selection MISS MARKER has good recent form and she lacked extra late when beaten just over one length by the former whom she now meets on 6kgs better terms. She must have a major shout in the line-up. That said, the former is undoubtedly the class act here and merits huge respect despite her hefty burden of 62.5kgs. She was an impressive winner over old foe GOODTIME GAL in her comeback run last time and will be fitter now. She can dictate terms to good effect.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 6: MY EMBLEM(4)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Eric SANDS

The seven furlongs could be the optimum trip for MY EMBLEM and she can quickly bounce back to form today after a disappointing last run over the mile. She finished close-up behind rivals COLOUR MAGIC and NTOMBE on the Smokey Affair run over this distance in her penultimate start. The four-year-old filly is her stable’s only entrant on the card and she is weighted to be competitive.
